So I asked in teen pregnancy about which last name their LO was receiving and the majority said their own and not the fathers because its comforting if the parents split, in the future all their kids will have the same name and if you ever want to change the last name you need the fathers permission. Not to mention all the social difficulties.
I had planned to give my LO their fathers name, even though we are only going out, not engaged and don't know what the future will hold. However to me it seemed right, but with what the others have pointed out it seems like quite a lot of hassel.
So I have decided to double barrell the second name in order for the father to feel part of the childs life and since his father abandoned him he doesn't want his child growing up without him, which is comforting.
But I'm not sure which sounds better - Robertson-Rooney or Rooney-Robertson, Rooney is the fathers surname, Robertson is mines.
