Hi, i'll keep this as short as possible :flower:
I had a rather lovely and straight forward pregnancy and wasnt in a rush for my little one to come (as you can tell :p) I tried a few things to get labour started naturally but everything failed miserabley, and the most i got was a tiny bloody show after a failed sweep.

Anyway, Sunday morning (5/5/11) at 9.30 i went in to the Liverpool Womens for the start of my induction. I was put on a ward with 3 other women and was put on the CTG to monitor the baby for half an hour (yeah okay..) After being left on for about an hour, babys heart beat kept dropping every so often and so i had to be kept on the CTG for around 3 hours before i had my pessary inserted. After this i was allowed to roam the hospital and what not. At about 3pm i started getting niggley pains yet was still convinced this baby didnt want to come, but by 6pm when i was due to get the next pessary i was getting 5-6 contractions every 10 minutes, it was hell. It was quite embarassing as things werent kicking in for the other women and i think i was screaming the place down haha. Anyway the doctor checked me (f**king OW, he had no sympathy whatsoever) and i was 1cm, and really overcontracting as they said. Had a shot of diamorphine which took the edge off things.

I didnt need the 2nd pessary as they were convinced things were going quick enough and i was moved to my delivery room and checked again at 7pm and was 1cm. By this time i literally couldnt walk, was shaking and throwing up with the pain. I was given a drip to try and clear my body and hydrate it and they said they didnt want to break my waters because i really needed a break, it was all quite intense. I then started on the G&A which made me feel like i was smashed, i rather enjoyed it :haha: Was still contracting alot but getting about a minute break between them. The rest was a bit of a blur of pain and throwing up quite alot and by the time the midwife actually did return at about 1am i was 8cm. Was in agony by this time and had another diamorphine shot which did nothing. Must of been about an hour later i felt his head moving right down 'Fuuuuck can i start pushing?!' I think ive read so many stories on women being told not to push i was relieved when i was told i was allowed haha. Didnt mind the pushing so much, and was grinning and joking in between contractions as they were alot less painful. Half an hour later my little sunshine was born :)
8.5 and a half lbs, born at 2:36am. My actual laour only lasted 5 hours!

He was super gorgeous, i couldnt believe it when they threw him on me! My mum cut the cord while my boyfriend tried not to pass out, bless him he was amazing. He took to my breast straight away and fed for about an hour while i was stitched up (2nd degree tears)
