Hey all!

I got an extremely faint BFP on the evening of the 20th at 11dpo. So faint that I thought I was imagining it until my husband confirmed. The next day it was still there, so we realized it was an actual BFP! Problem is, as of this morning, the line is still incredibly faint. It's there, but I figured it'd be darker. I took a FRER this AM, which is 14dpo, along with the usual IC, and the second line definitely shows up, but it's super light.

I'm wondering a little about a chemical pregnancy at this point. I know each test has a different amount of dye, but I still thought I'd be getting more of a line after 4 days. On the good news front, my temp is still up.

Any thoughts? Am I just testing to early to expect a darker result? Thanks!

give it a week and test again - I'm sure you will get a darker line then :)

Congrats on your BFP!

^ I agree. I didn't get any line until I took a FRER at CD40 (7 days late, after 3 BFNs) and my line has gotten darker with subsequent tests. I got a super faint line on CD40 on an IC and those finally started "catching up" a few days later.

a few months ago, I got a very faint line 4 days in a row that never got darker. I even tested positive on a digital. Then AF came. Last month, I got a faint line that was faint another day or 2 but then did get darker. They say a line is a line, but my experience is that the line should get darker not necessarily every day but from day 1 to day 4 or 5 I seen a difference.... good luck!

Hiya! i actually read that the stronger the line does not mean the more hormones you have! you can do two test from same brand and one could be darker and one could be lighter its dependant on the dye or something and how much of it your urine picks up ...or something like that lol

basically i wouldnt stress! :D if that helps any!

Which tests are you using? I never got a dark line on the ICs. In fact one day I had a faint line, the next two days none, then a faint line, then none. I finally bought an frer and it came up dark straight away! I took two just to be safe :)

Thank you all for your responses! It is reassuring to hear that it can be normal to have a few days of faint tests.

Unfortunately, I just don't have a good feeling about this. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but I suspect that this isn't my month.

stellargaze, I'm primarily using Wondfo tests. I took a FRER on the evening of 12dpo, and got a light, but definite line. the IC I took at 12dpo seemed better than the one from the day before. The next day, at 13dpo, I was back to having a barely visible line. This AM I took a FRER again, and while definitely there, I think it might have been slightly lighter than the earlier FRER. I'll take another IC tomorrow AM. I'm saving my last FRER until a few days have gone by.

I should probably just stop testing for a few days, but I'm sort of obsessed at this point. :)

My temp was down this morning, so I took another FRER and it came up negative. So I guess I'll be trying again next month. :(

Any idea how long it will take for my period to begin? I just want the next round of trying to start at this point.

So sorry to read your update, A Z :hugs:
You mentioned you had a feeling that things weren't working out. I've had that before and most times have been right. Our bodies are incredible with how they process things.
From what I have read on here and experienced myself I don't think you will have to wait long for af. Especially, since your temp has dropped. One day, maybe two would be my guess so keep the pads at the ready unfortunately.
Big big  and so sorry this happened to you. I hope you will be back here in first tri very soon with a sticky baby :hugs:

Thank you so much for your incredibly kind response.

I think you're right, that we generally have a good sense of what our bodies are doing. I'd have liked to have been wrong about this, though!

I appreciate your kind thoughts. I hope I'll be back here soon as well.

Hope ur ok hun :hugs:. Sounds like you had a chemical, I had one last month. I got a faint BFP on CD25 of my cycle, started bleeding two days later and it was like a normal AF. Stopped bleeding within 6 days and started NTNP straight away. GL for your next cycle :flower:

Thanks so much for sharing your experience, Emz! Do you mind me asking how the next month went for you?

Not at all :flower: Bleeding from chemical lasted same length of time as AF normally does. I think I ov'ed the 1st mth after (I normally feel it), and real AF came a day late that cycle. So my cycle was pretty much bk to normal and bleeding was normal too.

Sorry you are going through this. A lot of ppl dont see it as a loss but mentally it's hard. One minute your pregnant and the next you're not.

As you can see, I have another BFP now and this one is not a chemical so it doesn't seem to impact on chances of having another. I think it's just bad luck. :dust: to you x x

It's been a strange experience. It was way too early in the pregnancy for me to feel any attachment (I know this might be different for other women), but there is a definite sense of loss. We were both so excited! And it's sad to lose that. Also, and this is less important, the timing would have been really good this way.

AF showed this morning, so hopefully my cycle won't be delayed much.

Congrats on your recent BFP! Hope you have a happy and healthy nine months! And thank you again for your responses. It means a lot.
