I'm eagerly waiting for the delivery of a home use doppler I purchased from Ebay... has anyone else used one of these (as early as 9w +3) and successfully heard a heart beat?

Hi hun, I heard the hb on a home doppler at 8+2. I check weekly now and there's only been one day when I've been unable to find it. :)

I have one but didn't get it till 12+4. I couldn't find anything on the first attempt but then I tried again after watching videos on you tube of where to find it and what to listen for and i found it. It helped to know what I was listening for. It's like a galloping horse and is really really low down, around your bikini line. It's hard at first to know if it's your own heart beat or the baby's but once you know to listen for the galloping horse it's easier to distinguish!

You have to press quite hard and angle it different ways - and make sure you use the gel or baby oil.

Let us know if you hear anything!

I am hoping that I can hear mine - have ordered one to arrive tomorrow when I will be 9 weeks fingers crossed that we both get to hear our LO's heartbeat xxx

I started hearing my babies (or at least one of them) at around 8+4 but I am very skinny and had the same luck with my daughter. It takes some practice and LOTS of patience to find it the first few times. Start out at the pubic hair line and point almost towards the bone (under it). That is where I am still finding one of mine right now.

I listen to my baby morning and night... I first heard the HB on monday :)
bit difficult at first but i got the lcd screen which helped alot....

Thanks for the replies everyone. My doppler turned up and I had a go... I did get very brief moments with a HB on the LCD screen but it came and went so quickly - I did find that I had a reading both sides (left and right) which were different - ranging from 165 to 225 - I don't want to start panicking myself BUT... is 225 far too high and could it be a sign of twins?

Any advice much appreciated!

I am waiting for mine with lcd screen to come tomorrow. X

Hello!

When do you think you'd be able to hear the heartbeat with a stethoscope? I have a nice expensive cardio one. Obviously at 5 weeks it's too soon but... any guess?

As for dopplers..well.. have they been established to be 100% safe? they work like a radar yes? Just never heard of them used at home before

My doppler arrived yesterday and I spent nearly all evening searching for the heartbeat but could only pick up mine. Then I remembered the sonographer told me my uterus was retroverted, Duh!!! Thats probably why....I will keep trying. Is there a limit to how long you can expose your abdomen to the doppler cos I recken I 'll be flat out on my back all evening again.....!

so weird you mention the 225, as i have seen that come up loads of times. I thought it was MY HB lol.. and I was starting to shit myself.
Bubs HB when found is always ranging from 165-179 at the very most, so i know the 225 or 240 is not the baby... i always get a high reading when it's near my ovaries, or nearer to the groin where theres always a pulse.
I was starting to think that its maybe picking up baby and my HB too, which makes it jump to such a high number.
Im so glad im not the only one who noticed this.
Its not the baby, thats for sure.... when I noticed it, baby was on the right and the jump to over 200 was on the left so it couldnt possibly have been LO.
I honestly thought it was my heart packing up on me until I read your reply.
