Hello ladies, I'm delighted to be joining you in here as I got my BFP today :yipee:! It's been 6 months since my MMC and my due date would have been this Wednesday . I was desparate to be pregnant again before then and have just made it! Complete joy but tinged with sadness and the worry starts here of course.

Anyway, I have a question already! I've had long cycles since MMC of 37 days. This cycle was the same and I ovulated on CD23. I'm wondering what to tell the doctor - my LMP, which would put me 5+2 and tell them I ovulated 8 days later than usual, or just make up an LMP based on my ov date and a 28 day cycle, which would put me at 4+1, which I know I am? Anyone with long cycles or ov not on CD14/15 who can advise / tell me what you did?

I told my MW's both. My O date was CD 18. They may readjust the dates when you have a scan anyhow. Of course now I have an early EDD and a late EDD (and they'll be using the late EDD to go by if I need an induction). I've heard of some MW/Drs not really listening to people's charting results, so that's something to be aware of as well.

Hi

tbh in my personal experience the midwives do tend to ignore any evidence (whether it be charting or just the fact that your OH was away) that you ovulated early or late compared to the typical day 14. Nowadays they tend to rely on the dating scan to give you an accurate date.

No advice for o-ing that late hon; I ovd on CD18/19 this time so told MW both dates at booking. They've ignored my late-EDD so far - but if all goes well today I expect to be formally pushed back 4 days. (My tickers already show my own dates) x

Thanks ladies, I'll mull it over but considering making LMP up because I don't want nuchal scan early if they give me a date at 12 weeks from true LMP. Will be getting an early scan at 8 weeks by my dates for reassurance. Tricky! I thought they might not be that keen on charting so thanks for the confirmation! X

I ov'd on CD25 but midwife just took LMP into consideration and said we'll get a true EDD from dating scan. My EDD with them is 4th Dec, however I make it 12th December. I go by my dates at the moment.

Hi - congrats on your BFP!! :)

I had cycles of 35 days and when I got pregnant i chose not to tell them about knowing ovultaion day and they have just gone from lmp. This will be helpful as if I go overdue they will only let me go 2 weeks (calculated form lmp) which means that technically I will only be a week overdue going by ovulation date

i hope this makes sense?

Just consulted Dr Google on this (dangerous thing to do!) and found the following discussion:

https://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/803385-Do-NHS-due-dates-take-long-cycles-into-account?pg=1

I'm seriously tempted to lie as the later date works out better for a whole load of reasons - including that we have a long-haul holiday booked at the end of September (knew I'd get pregnant if we did something reckless like that!) and I would rather be 23 weeks than 24 when we go.

Thanks for all the replies.

The research fellow doing my scan today didn't seem at all bothered about dating and didn't bother changing my EDD  Which is fine, means I can fast-forward my ticker by 4 days and stick to LMP!

Excellent news Tulip! If I was 4 days out I wouldn't worry but as I'm 8 days out, I would only be 10+6 at a 12 week scan. I feel a little white lie coming on! xxx

I would... mind you, my hospital seem to book 12w scans for 12+4 to accommodate such things xx

I did it! Lied to the doctor's receptionist that is! Have given my details with adjusted LMP on basis of a 28 day cycle rather than a stupidly long 37 day one. Just have to wait for the midwife to call me to arrange booking-in appointment now. Eeeeeeeeek! xxx
