LO has recently started storing food in his mouth (after chewing and doing a very good impression of eating it!) and after a few mouthfuls he gets very upset cos it seems he just doesn't know what to do with this food! He starts crying with his mouth shut and generally looking very sorry for himself, and we end up having to get him out of his high chair to comfort him. He eventually sorts it out (either spitting it out or swallowing it) but he really does get quite upset and I hate seeing mealtimes making him cry He seems to like the flavour of the food (if he doesnt he won't put it in his mouth in the first place, or he spits it out pretty quick) so it's such a shame when this happens. It seems to happen a lot with peas in particular! He loves picking them up and putting them in his mouth but then can't seem to swallow them!
The only food that he has no problem with is fruit!
Has this happened to anyone else, and what can I do? Should I stick with soft mushy liquidy food? I don't this want to put him off eating
