I had a sweep on the 9 th august I think and was having cramps until the Friday night when they finally started took increase. I went to bed early but still wasn't asleep when dh came to bed at 1am as I was too uncomfortable. Dh fell asleep as I didn't tell him in case of a false alarm but had to wake him abit later. Started to time the contractions and they seemed to increase to every 5 mins so I called the on call midwife who told me to go in as the hospital is 20 ish mins away and I was group B strep positive anyway.
On arrival I was 3 cm dilated and after a quick scan it was revealed why I was in a bit more pain than I was expecting, Noel was back to back. It gets a bit blurry with times but after at least 8 hours on gas and air I'm now only 4cm. I go onto a half dose of pethidine which is amazing and completely takes all the pain away but 4 hours later I'm still only 4cm. We all decide that it might be best to speed things up a bit with a drip but I insist on an epidural first. Up until now I've been standing and walking around. The epidural takes most of the pain away but I still feel the contractions down there but only as a pressure on the right hand side. I also have to keep having it topped up every hour. Fast forward to me being 10 cms (not sure how long this took) and I begin to push as the epidural wears off and the mw's refuse to top it up. I push for an hour and it's becoming apparent that he's not coming down. I'm begging for a caesarean at this point. The Dr comes in and agrees that I need to go to theater as the baby is a bit stuck. He tries the venthouse first (after more drugs as I could still feel pain down below) and doesn't even attempt forceps as the baby is too stuck. The operation doesn't seem to take very long but apparently he had to be pulled out feet first. OH held him first And I was in pure shock only really feeling relief that it was all over. We had skin to skin and I breast fed really easily.
The whole thing lasted 26 hours. And he was 8lbs 8oz.
6 days later we moved to bottles as I wad still exhausted and emotionally fried and was really struggling to bond with him.

This is him yesterday (6 weeks)
