So I was just sitting here wondering...about names...and I was wondering

how many people have really long last names....

Our baby (when we have one) will have a last name of 11 letters.

Lewandowski

...Oy!

Does it make you want to have shorter first names?

I will feel terrible giving them long names, kindergarten when they learn to write there name will be brutal!!

OH has a 26 letter name as do I. Granted I didn't have that last name when I was little.

(kind of went off on a tangent there...lots of thoughts in my head sorry for babbling on!)

So anyone with long surnames???

Ours is 8 letters, 3 syllables. I was adamant that the first names couldn't be longer than 2 syllables, and the middle name should be 1!! That narrowed down our choices a lot but I didn't want the name to be a mouthful!

haha yeah thats what i'm worried about. I don't want to scar our children with ridiculously long names!

We were discussing the same thing last night! Our surname is 14 letters long and 7 syllables! I said I wanted to keep first name short and sweet, the poor child will have enough to deal with! xxxx

I know! My goodness I'm going to just shorten the last name to like 3 letters until there in highschool so it will be easier for them! LOL

My full name (maiden) was:
5 letters in first name was a total of 27 letters.
Now that married I have: 22 letters
My Husband has: 34 letters

Our children's last name will be Macdonald, so right off the bat have 9 letters. We don't mind using longer names, as it is the name itself we like, not how long or short it happens to be. Some names we like for example are: Avery, Myla, Geneviève, Tadghan, Chayton, Marc - so good variety of syllables, I think.

I think it definitely depends on the last name and how it sounds together.

Yeah I definately like things that go with the last name. I love the name Avery!!

Bub's surname will be:

Shuckburgh Barrera, my surname and my hubby's surname. In Spain, your child takes both the parents surnames, which when choosing a name, you really to think what will go with the surnames you have. It will be a mouthfull anyway, whihc is wyhy we bubs won't have a middle name.

Oh thats a long name too!
If we hyphenated (which at first I wanted to) It would be
Franco-Lewandowski. But we decided we wanted to use family names for middle names and drop the hyphen.
