Longer than 28 day cycle - poor egg quality?

totally not true. Your cycle is longer (just like mine) which means you probably ovulate later (just like me). TO my knowledge, this has NOTHING to do with egg quality. Be sure to take all things with a grain (or 2) of salt. I have a beautiful 1 year old and trying for #2 :) good luck and BD away!

The majority of my BFP cycles have been long cycles 30+ days. when I conceived my second daughter I think I ovulated around cd 20 and she is very healthy. as women approach menopause cycles usually begin to get shorter and shorter and egg quality is not as good because as we age so do our eggs, so I have to disagree with your doctor. But of course shorter or longer cycles dont always mean poor egg quality I think the only way to know for sure is to have a AMH test done or go through IVF and see how the eggs fertilize and grow.

I don't believe that no. I have long cycles aNd apart from 1 mc all healthy pregnancies.
I once ovulated on day 106 and I got by bfp on that cycle.
It's not like the eggs just sat there deteriorating, I can't see why it matters where in your cycle you ovulate so long at your luteal phase is fine

Wow, 106 day cycle and got pregnant? That's amazing!

To all you ladies that responded - thank you so much, you definitely helped ease my mind. Not to mention, this doctor put me on the strictest diet known to mankind, called "The Fertility Diet". I'm basically eating lean protein and vegetables but absolutely no sweets or carbs. Ugh. I have been on a low carb diet with minimal sweets for a few months now and have lost weight... but I can't see depriving myself of carbs & sweets all together. His response? "If you want a baby, you'll do whatever it takes." Gee, thanks doctor!

While his bedside manor stinks ,I actually have to agree with him on the fertility diet , sugar and over processed foods are bad for our eggs . high protein diet increases fertility. but on the other hand if you dont want to do it ,you dont have to . it took me a long time to get motivated to try it , now I hope I dont lose the motivation.

I did, with my very long awaited little Amy, our rainbow after we lost her big Sister 💗 id just about lost hope and then there she was 😊

I think your Dr is being a bit ott. Everything in moderation. Cutting food groups almost completely out is not healthy nor sustainable.

Best of luck ☺️ Xx

Ummm, just from the sounds of it, you might want to find a new doctor. I don't like the things they are saying to you.
Perhaps Look into getting a midwife. I am a nurse and am so happy i had a midwife with my last pregnancy and will, without even thinking about it, go back to her for the next.

Well, due to new insurance and that fertility doctor not participating, I have chosen another fertility doctor early September (fingers crossed I won't need that appointment if we're successful in getting a sticky bean!). I would love a midwife, but currently we are having unexplained infertility so I'm seeing a specialist to hopefully make us pregnant...

This is just a theory. In reality the only way they can tell if your egg qualify is poor is if you do IVF, and sometimes eggs that look like they are of poor quality are actually not. My first IVF cycle they said my egg quality but we made high quality blastocysts. The true test of egg quality is a pregnancy, and as I am sure you know there are other things that can affect whether or not a woman gets pregnant other than egg quality.
