I found out last week after my BFP's turned into BFN's that I am supposed to take Lovenox Shots for clotting if I get pregnant. I was informed over the phone by a nurse, with absolutely no details. I have an appt. tomorrow with the Dr. and I am not sure what to ask him when I get there. I know I want more information on the clotting disorder. But what else, I've had many different times where I got bfps, and then days later they were negative. This past time I got my beta and it was 2.7, two days later it was still 2.7. the nurse took no time to explain to me why, she said I wasn't pregnant, better luck next time.. I just need guidance. Please tell me what to ask.

I could really use some advice on this... please.

how do you know that you have clotting disorder?

Hi there,

I hope your doctor can give you a detailed explanation on your disorder and how to manage it while ttc.

Clotting disorders can be a cause of miscarriage, and I see that you've had multiple losses, so this might be why.

I would bring a pen and a piece of paper with you to write down questions and answers. And, bring another person if possible. It helps to have 2 people there so that more details are remembered.

I would ask:
-The name of the disorder.
-What's the prognosis. Or how does the doc feel this disorder will affect ttc/pregnancy; and life in general.
-What is the treatment. How long. What dose. How to administer.
-How often should you have check-ups.
I'm sure there are more, but that's off the top of my head.

Also, what type of doctor is this that you're seeing? If it's a GP or an ob/gyn, I'd go see a specialist, a hematologist. That's a doctor that specializes in blood/blood cells (sometimes they are labeled as oncologists/hematologists. But, don't be worried, it doesn't mean you have cancer. The doc just deals with both issues).

Good luck.

Bloodwork done about 4 weeks ago. But I didn't get the results until I called to tell them I thought I was pregnant and I needed a beta.

@ Readyformore- I Go to an obgyn, on his info it says he works with highrisk pregnancy. I tried to get into a couple of different dr.s, but they all have such a long waiting list....

Stay on the waiting list and go to both.

You wouldn't let a hematologist manage your pregnancy would you? Nope. I wouldn't let a gynecologist manage my clotting disorder either.
