Hi, my name is Desi and I just found out that my AMH hormon is just 2.23 pmol/L. I welcome everybody who experiences the same problem or has been through this to come and share.

I am having hsg on 3th of October. I still have no idea what I am going to do. I know one think. I want to be pregnant.

Hello, I have low AMH. I was told that it does not mean that the quality of eggs is low, or that you don't ovulate. All my blood tests and scans show that I do ovulate. We have just completed a round of ivf (not because of my low AMH). Although I got less eggs than average for my age, they must have been good quality because we were lucky enough to be successful.

Good luck on your journey.

Hi, Chickensoup85,

First congratulations :)!!!! Can I ask u how old are u? And why did u decide to do IVF? I would love to think that there is a chance for me to get pregnant naturally. I would probably try IVF but if my tubes are working I think I will give myself chance to try only with supplements. Did u take clomid and/or other vitamins like royal jelly, maca, dhea or complex of vitamins?

Thanks for your respond :*.

I'm 28. The IVF was our only option because of male factor infertility and so we never went down any other route. Sorry I can't be of more help!

Desi, I also have low AMH 1.38. All FS usually look at me with pity when I tell them my stats (very disheartening) and keep asking me why I think my ovaries aged before my time… (possibly too much stress and sugar, otherwise I actually lead a very healthy lifestyle) and they all tell me that we need to move to IVF asap, no time to lose. After 3.5 years of TTC we are finally (although reluctantly) starting our first IVf/ICSI but not the conventional one, we opted for natural/modified IVF as with low AMH ovarian stimulation may be counter productive. success rates are low but so are the risks. FS seems to think that low AMH means low quantity of egg reserve as well as poor egg quality. I still do not understand why they think the quality should also be affected but that's what I was told. I've tried everything I could think of to improve my stats including various vitamins for about 1.5 years, Chinese acupuncture and herbs for about a year but it did not make any difference. Maybe I was unlucky, also possible that our male factor (low sperm count) is 100% responsible for our lack of success.

Hi Briss,

As far as I understood if u don't have a lot of eggs that means your ovaries are not working properly so the quality is also bad. I am waiting for my hsg now and I have no idea what happens next. I really do hope that at least my tubes are working but who knows. I personally think that if they are open I will try for another year naturally. I am nir realy keen on IVF. I wish you all the best. And I hope you'll hold you baby soon. Keep me in touch. Xxxxx

Hi Desi, I'm 33 and AMH is below 4. I just had 12 eggs from ivf. Will find out tomorrow how many are mature and what fertilised. Some people get loads of eggs and are really unsuccessful. It's quality over quantity every time x

Hi, Just new to this.

My last amh was less than 4pmol/L. We have been TTC for 2 years. I have now reached the top of the IUI waiting list after 10 months and I am just waiting on my appointment coming through. My bloods all fine and my hsg showed my tubes are clear and I ovulate every month. I just hope IUI works for me as it's such an emotional rollercoaster having to wait. I have just been placed on the IVF waiting list and I am told the waiting list is 12-18 months. Good luck to you all x

Hi were are from. I live in UK. I hope I don't have to wait so long :(.

I'm Glasgow and it was two yrs for ivf. If your able I'd suggest getting on the list ASAP.

Desi, that's interesting what you said that if u don't have a lot of eggs that means your ovaries are not working properly which is affecting the quality. I always thought lower ovarian reserve is just a part of the natural aging process. cos FS says there is nothing you can my FSH is going to get higher and AMH is going to get lower as I age. But if it's all down to ovarian function that means it can be improved, is it not? I do get ovarian cysts from time to time - maybe that's the problem? otherwise my hormones (except for FSH) are normal. I've been charting for 25 cycles now and seem to be ovulating normally (also confirmed by blood tests and scans).

Hi, Briss, I really enjoy every your post :). I must admit that I don't have a lot of time for reading articles but from what I have read by now I understood that there is a chance even a person with low fertility and bad egg quality to get pregnant even naturally. The life has proven to me many times that doctors can be wrong. Even I know (as a scientist) that some events in this life can be explained.
So, don't lose your hope and do everything you can to improve your health and life quality. Xxxxx

apparently my AMH was misleading cos it was done abroad and they used different units– it was in ng/mL but supposed to be in pmol/L. After the conversion my depressing 1.38 turned into fairly respectable 9.9!: 1.38 ng/mL x 1000 mL/1 L x 1 mol/140 kg = 9.9 pmol/L. ladies can you please check your units for AMH?

The current, most common measurement of AMH levels is as follows:

High AMH Over 3.0 ng/ml

Normal AMH Over 1.0 ng/ml

Low Normal AMH 0.7-0.9 ng/ml

Low AMH 0.3-0.6 ng/ml

Very low AMH Less than 0.3 ng/ml

DAISYPRENCESS, do not get discouraged, i think people are still trying to figure out how to use AMH. the doc said it does not vary a lot but in his experience ladies who repeated it sometimes got two different results which is not supposed to happen. Also once he realised that my AMH might not be as bad as they thought he suggested we wait for the next cycle and do fully stimulated IVF but then he did my scan and there was only 6 follicles! last time there was 9 and he thought there should be more considering my AMH but here you go. so we started natural/modified IVF.

Hi Briss,

I am waiting for my hsg. I am a but nervous to be honest. I am thinking that if my tubes are blocked I will have as an only option IVF :(. So, I have always been against it but.......I started seeing it as a way out. I just want to carry a baby myself with my husband's gen.
Good luck to you.

Daisyprencess, I hope your hsg will be fine but nowadays there is a lot they can do about blocked tubes. it does not necessarily mean you need IVF. but I am sure your tubes are fine!
