Hello All! I am totally new to this whole message board thing, but from what I have read here so far, it seems as if y'all are supportive and full of information! :)

My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for about 19 cycles, my OBGYN finally reccomended we see a fertility specialist. I got my bloodwork results back last week and my AMH is .4.
I am going in for an HSG later this week.
Can anyone shed any light or have any similar experiences with a low AMH?
Thanks so much!!!

Hello and welcome! I like the group in here, like you said, they are pretty supportive. I don't have a personal experience with AMH...not even sure mine got measured, I'm gonna go look. But from this site I found that explains it pretty well: https://www.advancedfertility.com/amh-fertility-test.htm it seems as though it's another way to measure ovarian reserve. Did they also measure your FSH? I don't know which one is suppose to be a better measure of ovarian reserve but it seems as though they do about the same thing.

Thanks pheonixrose! Yes, I did some research on it and I was pretty devastated to say the least. They didn't test my FSH, but from what I have gathered, doctors are leaning more towards AMH for a more accuracy with ovarian reserves.
I am going to switch doctors (the one we are going to I REALLY like, but he is not in our network) and will ask them to re-test AMH and FSH as well.
Thanks again, let me know what yours was if you can find it! :)

It would be worth having an antral follicle count via ultrasound too to look at your ovarian reserve....then all 3 test results together can build a picture.

AMH is considered the most reliable, but it's not perfect, it's fairly new and as such the guides for 'normal' are evolving.

I have low AMH, yet my ovaries are actually polycystic so i'm a bit of an anomoly. Dr.s can't seem to agree what it really means for my ovarian reserve.

Thanks so much Nell, that is great information! I hope you find all of the answers you are looking for as well! :)

I had the test done 2 years ago and had a result of 1.9 which is low and have been told to consider egg donar. But not giving up on natural conception just yet. !!!
