My husband and I haven't been trying "officially", though we have been trying nonetheless to get pregnant for the past 6 months. I got what appeared to be my period a few weeks ago but then I started spotting lightly the week after my period which was causing me some concern. We decided to take a pregnancy test and we were pregnant! Went to the doctors the following day to get a confirmation that we were going to indeed be having our first child. The doctor said (after he had me do a pee pregnancy test which came back barely positive) that I needed bloodwork done to confirm my pregnancy. To sum it up, the doctor was leaning toward a MC because according to when we "thought" the baby might have been conceived did not add up to why my hcg levels were low. The next day my hcg came back 33. The doctor at this point was not even encouraging me that we were going to have a baby. I took another blood test. My hcg came back 38. The doctor is "pretty sure you do not have a viable pregnancy" and that I should be having my MC in about a week or so but he still wants me to do yet another blood test after this holiday weekend coming up. Has anyone had a similar situation and did it end up with good news? This is so stressful and heartbreaking!

Lil I am so sorry you have to go through this. I can relate though with numbers not going up much but not going down and mine ended ectopic. Please be careful and if you feel anything out of the ordinary go in straight away. Best of luck hon :hugs:

I have a similar situation but it didn't end up with good news so I won't share it. I would be inclined to agree with your doctor, however. I don't like saying that but it is the truth. However, the truth also is that some women have had low doubling HCG and everything has actually been fine, so I wouldn't exactly give out hope but I would prepare for what might be happening. I am so sorry, dear. PRAYING that this is a positive outcome for you :hugs:

Well got my 3rd bloodtest back today which was a week after my first one. Hcg is at 47 and family doctor is referring me to an obgyn because he isnt sure what is going on. He did toss out words like D&C etc. Now Im getting pretty nervous!

I'm sorry you're going thru this. It just seems like things aren't developing as they should. It will be up to you to decide what you want to do though. I've had 3 miscarriages (and 2 chemicals) and had a d&c with the first, but just waited it out with the other 2. Again, so sorry.

The soonest I can get into the obgyn is July 30th. At this point I don't know if I am feeling pretty scared as this is my first pregnancy or sad or just plain confused as to what I may have done wrong to cause a threatened miscarriage. I am just praying that everything will turn out okay.

Scout, may I ask what symptoms you had to let you know you were going to have a miscarriage? If I am to have one I would rather do it naturally instead of having a d&c or anything of that sort. My doctor isn't being very imformative on what I am to be expecting. Well, he really hasn't told me squat to be honest. I have had to Google everything and ask him questions about what I have found on the internet.

If the blood test was taken 2 days apart then I'm afraid it doesn't look good. Your numbers should have doubled in 48 hrs. I'm so sorry. I had similar situation with low hcgs but mine were doubling normally til I reached about 500 then I miscarried. I had gush of brown discharge at 4 wks and it was off/on til it turned red and I miscarried. I'm sorry hun. I hope you get your rainbow baby soon.

Just saw your post about your 3rd test. Wanted to add if you start to get pain on one side then please go to ER. Slow rising hcg could possibly mean ectopic. Again I'm so sorry this happened to you
