DH received his SA results today and it's not great news. He's been diagnosed with oligoasthenoteratozoospermia (low count, motility and morphology). The sample was also of very low volume. The specific results were:

Volume: 0.5ml (normal should be greater than 1.5)
Concentration: 9.0 (should be higher than 15)
Motility: 38.8% (normal is greater than 40%)
Progressive motility: 25.5% (should be higher than 32%)
Normal forms: 3% (should be higher than 4%)

We are both pretty gutted. His GP also didn't give much clue as to where things will most likely go from here. We are currently registered at different GPs so it's mine whose handling any referrals etc as she initiated the investigations. I'm hoping to make an appointment to see her on Friday as she wanted to examine me once we had DH's results. My bloods came back mostly fine apart from a low TSH level so they want to redo my thyroid levels in December. But they didn't seem concerned over it. Would love to hear from anyone else whose OH's have been diagnosed with the same thing and what procedure they followed for you (have been googling and the main thing that keeps coming up is IVF with ICSI). Would also love to hear some success stories right about now!

I think my DH's numbers are somewhat similar. However he does have a normal volume.
Our RE is having us try IUI a few times before moving on to IVF. I personally am not so hopeful, I think the IUI is a waste of time for this diagnoses. Think the doctors are hesitant to start more invasive treatment without trying less invasive.
Hang in there, I'm in the same boat!

My husband was diagnosed with a low count of 16 million, he has been taking natural supplements to raise his count naturally, coq10 and pine back extract has increased motility, Tribulus Terrestris, Maca and Tongkat Ali has been increasing his sperm count.

following for updates and success stories :flower:

My DH also came back with slow motility and a sample of low volume.

Hi all,

I recently got my first true BFP. Elated but slightly surprised lol. Been trying for nearly 2 yrs and beginning to accept the fact that we will never have a have a child.

Anyways, DH had similar problem, the cause was vericocele. Dont know if you've heard of it, but look it up on google. Vericocele is not an uncommon condition and i think its one of the most common cause of male infertility. Basically there is a vein in the crotch area that increases in size and it increases bloodflow around the crotch area. So with increase in bloodflow, it causes the area to have about 0.5 to 1 degree C increase in temp. This basically kills all the sperms. The sperm factory is not functioning well. So DH went for vericocele operation. It was a quick surgery and he was able to walk right away. After the surgery, dr gave DH cocktail of meds to help recover his sperm. Immediately after the surgery and cocktail treatment, DL testis size grow bigger and his down there is bigger than usual. Things improved for him. But we went another 4months without BFP. A friend recommended smth called apple stem cell. We took the gold version of the ASC. I took them as well. Long story short, we started it on 17th july, went on for vacation, dtd 20th, 21st and 23rd and i got my first BFP yesterday 12th aug.

Im sure the operation fix his sperm factory but DH sperm recovery was not going at the optimum. Dr's cocktail meds is working to improve his sperm but not very significantly. I'd say its the gold ASC that fix it for him. It is a very potent supplement, he didnt take very much of it, only half a sachet (1.5g) every 2 days. I took the other half. But it seems to work for him. Im sure it won't work if he hadnt had the operation to fix the sperm factory, the gold ASC just speed up the recovery for him.

Another suggestion: would really not recommend sperm analysis by lab technician, go to a good andrology for his sperm analysis, the result and reading can be very very different. We thought DH was okay so we did all the treatment on me, injections, drugs, femara, trigger shot but still no BFP. Finally we thought we should give DH sperm another look and yup the problem is there, we've been looking down the wrong hole all these time and trying to fix the wrong thing. Make sure u get second opinion and do a proper research online.

I hope this helps.

Thanks grace and congratulations on your BFP!
