So over the past 3 days ive recorder when she feeds and how much she has to see if there was any routine..

DAY 1
3.30 am - 2oz
8:40am - 6oz
11:30am- 5oz
3.00pm - 3oz
4.30pm - 3oz
7:10pm - 1oz
9.00 - 5oz
Bed at 10pm

DAY 2
6.30am - 3oz
sleep untill 9.00am
10:30am - 4oz
1.00pm - 6oz
5.00pm - 6oz
8.30pm - 6oz
Bed at 10pm

DAY 3
6.40am -2 and a half oz
back to sleep untill 8:40am
9.40am- 3oz
11.30am - 3oz
2:10pm - 3 n a half oz
4.50pm: 5oz
8:00pm - 7oz
bed at 9.15pm

I dont see any sort of routine there .. can anyone else? Is there anyway at all i can turn it into a routine?

Are you demand feeding? If you are, you could instead try and aim to feed every 3 hours. I don't wait for Ruby's hunger cues, I just do it, and find this works...

^^^^ as above - from around 6 weeks, i introduced feeding every 3 hours, 7:30, 10:30, 1:30 & 4:30, then at 10 weeks, stretched to every 4 hours and now he eats as follows:

3:30am - 5oz
7:30am - 6oz
11:30am -6oz
3:30pm - 5 or 6 oz
7:30pm - 5 or 6oz
10:30pm - dream feed around 3 oz

I found that he is now actually eating much more, on less bottles, cos as i was demand feeding intitally, i think he was just eating 3-4oz, satisfiying his initial hunger, and then wanting more as soon as another hour! Whereas now, he gets a full meal, and is fully satisfied, it is very rare that he is actually crying with hunger before I give him a bottle, but i am flexible 1/2 hour each way from each time if he needs it, this way, it does not disrupt his bath/bottle/bed routine which is at the same time every evening

It looks like she needs a bigger feed in one go to last longer between feeds.

Alex takes 7ozs in a bottle and goes around hours between each one and 5-8 hours overnight.

I do this aswell, rarely now he tells me hes hungry. Only during a growth spurt..

Euan rarely tells me he is hungry either i have to feed him roughly every 3 hours, but i dont feed him overnight he sleeps around 11-12 hours and he is fine with this. I breast feed him first what i have which is maybe around 1-2 oz combined and then give 5oz formula. I would feed every 3 hours and like a few others said maybe up the amount a little and then re evaluate.

I offer 6oz bottles but she doesnt take the 6oz very often...

shes probably not taking a full 6ozs because shes not long taken a bottle previously?

for example if she takes 3ozs at 2pm, shes not going to take 6ozs 1-2 hours later iykwim?

This is why i feed every 3hrs cos lily has between 3~5oz every 3 hrs but if i let her feed on demand it would be 1 to 2oz every 90 mins or so ....i feel cruel when she crys after 1 hr but i cant be constently feeding with 3 other kids iykwim x

Yeah, thats the annoying thing, when shes hungry for a bottle ill give her it, but if she only takes 3oz.. that means she'll be hungry 2 hours later for another 3 oz. The only time she takes the full 6oz is usually in the mornings because shes gone so long, or if i leave her a long time before feeding. ( e/g when were out, she just sleeps in the pram)

now i have two hands lol, this is how Alexs routine goes:
8.30am wakeup and 7ozs bottle
12.30pm 7ozs
4.30pm 7ozs
8pm 5-7ozs and bedtime
2am 7ozs

These are our set times everyday and vary by half an hour depending on when he shows signs of being hungry, like today he had his 12.30 bottle at 12.10.

I notice in your routine that the time she gets up varys, maybe get her up at the same time everyday, might help get her more into a feeding routine?

edit: moved this over to formula feeding section for you :)

So i should wake her everyday at the same time then feed her say every 4 hours? What do i do if shes hungry say 2 hours after her previous bottle?

It will take a few days to adjust into a routine, I would pick a time you want to get her up each day and start that tomorrow, feed her when she gets up (hopefully a full bottle) and then see what time she wants fed next, if its 3 hours then feed her, if she goes longer to 4 then feed her when she gets to 4 hours but no longer.

I think it took us 10 days to get into this routine as we were switching from breastfed and he wouldnt go as long between a feed after being BF.

Go by her lead aswell, our times are based on when he wanted to go to sleep at night, and how long he would go between a feed and i adjusted the times to fit in. Hope that makes sense

If she takes a full feed she should hopefully not want fed after two hours. Does she drain a 6ozs bottle? We found Alex did so upped it to 7ozs.

Lily feeds

4:30 am 2oz sleeps until
7 then i feed her at 7:30 5oz
then 10:30
1:30
4:30
7:30
10:30

anything from 2~5oz

IT all depends what time i get her into bed though. Last night i got her into bed at 8.15 just before.. but that was because she took her bottle no problem, sometimes she has trouble with her bottles and has to be winded many times throughout the bottle which can take up to an hour to finish it all. The later she goes the later she sleeps obviously, its just really hard to get her into one because she has a problem aswell where somtimes ( it used to be every night but now its only every so often, from colic ) she has her last bottle and ends up throwing it all up, and when she does that shes wide awake and wont have a bottle untill proberly half an hour/hour afterthat, so sometimes its not untill around 10/11pm that she goes to sleep.

Routines can be flexible, you could try and get her to bed at a certain time. If she doesnt go for whatever reason then wait untill she does go to sleep, but still get her up at the same time in the morning even if its to give a bottle and let her go back to sleep again.

Thats what i would do...Alex doent always got to bed at 8pm, sometimes its 7.30pm, sometimes later like earlier this week at 8.40pm but we will still have him up for the same time every morning.

Yes I always have Ruby up at 7am. She would go longer but it works best with her routine of feeding 7am, 10am, 1pm, 4pm, 7pm, dream feed at 10.30pm. Doing this, she's been going thru the night since 6 weeks. She takes between 5-8oz in each bottle.

I used to think she needed feeding every 2 hours until I realised her crying 2 hrs after a feed was actually tiredness.
