Making Jam with wild Blackberries.... question :o)

Hi

So we are making jam for the very 1st time We have been out this morning and picked 1kg of blackberries and bilberries! They are in the pan ready to go but then my OH asked if I have got all the worms/maggots/creepy crawlies out. So we thought we should pour boiling water over them for 5 mins or so and give them a good rinse, is this a good idea?

if you leave them to soak in water any grubs should float to the top.

Thank you raven ..... I remember something similar from when I was a child but could remember exactly!

I've made it now, I just poured boiling water on them for a couple of minutes and then rinsed lots. Seems to have worked
