I am starting LO on SMA Staydown tomorrow and understand that the powder must be added to chilled water and then given to LO at room temp. I read that SMA say you can take the bottle from the fridge, add powder then leave on the side for 2 hours before giving it to allow it to come to room temp.

However that won't really work for night feeds as I'm not getting up to make the bottle 2 hours before the feed. So could I warm it in the microwave to just about room temp? I've never warmed a bottle in microwave before as LO has always taken his milk at room temp anyway. Do you leave the teat and lid on the bottle when you put it in the microwave?

Or does anyone have a better way?

Hi hun, keep some hot water in a flask & prepare the feed as usual with cold water using 1/2 or 1 oz less water. So, If you are preparing a 4 oz feed, use 3 oz of cold water & 4 scoops of formula, then keep it in the fridge. When it's time for his feed, top it up with 1 oz of hot water while stiring. You are not suppose to keep a pre-prepared bottle for more than 1 hr out of the fridge.

Thanks for that, I thought you couldn't use a bottle after more than an hour too, but apparently this is what SMA suggest?!

Also I thought you had to roll the bottle to mix it, is it ok to stir then?

I was using a baby spoon to stir Omar's anti reflux formula. You cant shake it, but stiring with a spoon is similar to rolling it I guess.

this is exactly what I do with every feed as LO cannot drink cold / cool milk.
we do 8 scoops to 6oz water and top up with 2oz of boiling water - makes it perfect temp.
if I am in a hurry then I stir as well
