Anyone do or done this? What material do you use etc? I did have an all in one washable that I was using, but she has grown out of them... And they were expensive... I have some all in one training pants, but they are too big.

So im wondering if I can just make some pre-folds for now for around the house and buy some waterproof covers.

I don't personally sew, but I do know alot of mamas that make them from bamboo. Some call them mini flats and they are about the same size as a prefold and it's just I believe 2 layers of bamboo put together and then they sew a soaker with a few more layers that you lay inside to make it more absorbent before putting it on them.

What kind of material do you use though? And what do you use in the middle for absorbancy etc???

This may be a dumb question, but are prefolds the ones you have to use a snappy to hold together??? Thats what im trying to find out how to make... I just want them for around the house so I can cut back on the disposables.

For a prefold I would probably use 2 layers of bamboo fleece with a couple of additional layers of fleece or terry in the middle. The bamboo fleece I have is sooo super soft, and has great absorbancy.
The best prices for fabric I have found online is a place called Celtic Cloths Wholesale.

Here's a link to a whole explaination on difference prefolds you can make.

Great, thanks alot samantha... they look pretty easy to make!

actually... the fitteds look quite easy too! im sure they are a bit time consuming... but they look just as time consuming as the prefolds.

by fleece, do you mean like that fuzzy stuff??? lol

Bamboo fleece is different than regular fleece :) I personally like bamboo velour best. But bamboo material can be very expensive. Another good thing for making something absorbent without making it too bulky is ZORB. This explains what zorb is
