Male or female OBgyn?

When in labout with my son i found the male to b more gentle witg the internals and whilst at a and e couple wks ago, I had to wait to see a consultant from maternity, he was male and lovely, very gentle and thorough even booked me another scan. I do have to be under a consultant for twins and apparently shes fab but not met her yet.

I've had both. It seems to me that women ob's who have had kids and been thru it are out to prove that pregnancy shouldn't slow you down, therefore they aren't as understanding and compassionate, whereas a male has never been through it and can only imagine how it must feel. I do agree and feel at least in my experience that male OB's are nicer.

Hmm.. Never looked at it that way ,in regards to the female docs , interesting , my doctor is not married , doesn't have kids , doubt if she is planning to :)

I had a midwife for 1/2 of my pregnancy last time, and a male ob for the last half. I wish to god I hadn't switched. I had very bad birth because of him and he always rushed me at appointments. :( I don't feel he really cared about me or my baby at all. I am very happy that I am switching bad to my midwife with this pregnancy. I was a fool for moving to him just because I moved.

Glad it you still have that option at least :( good luck
