And these... I dunno. I can't explain why I love them so much as they are far from perfect... Maybe they make me feel I dunno... Even the blurred Fin... Love it.

You're back Sorry to hear about the lens. Hope it's not too costly to sort out.

As usual, amazing photos from you!!! The colours on the peacock are amazing. Did the peacock get close or did you use a lens with a closer zoom?

Fin and his little chick are heart melting! Do you use Adobe photoshop to alter photos? I really want some black and white photos but have heard its best to change them in photoshop than change the camera settings.

Amelia is growing up so fast. She always looks so trendy! I wish my little girl would keep pretty hairpieces in.

I love the blurred photo of Fin I've got a few of my little boy like that where the focus hasn't gone right but I like the result. It's for your viewing and I can see why you like it.

I'm hoping to get out and get snapping today. We've barely left the house in over a week due to illness and I'm desperate to use my camera outside for the first time.

I'm not super familiar with Nikons but I've heard good things about the D3200 and the 50mm f/1.8 is usually a great starter portrait lens

alaskagrown - I love how you have such a distinct style for all of your portraits. The lighting is great and of course her expressions are amazing.

Piperette - You take great candids! He is really strikingly handsome. Gorgeous eyes.

Here's a photo from a couple days ago. The focus was a little soft on one of her eyes but I loved the framing and the expression so much I went with it anyway and just did my best to sharpen it up in PP. I think it might be my current favorite pic of her.

My choice was actually between the D3200 and the Canon 550D. I decided to go for the Canon, simply because it felt a bit more natural in my hand. Have you tried and held/felt it in a shop? I was also told that between the two I was thinking about there was not really a right lot of difference specification wise that a beginner would notice, so I think it would be a good choice of camera and lens.
