The first results showed just 1% normal forms. We were devastated. Had 2 more speem tests since then and both results showed a big improvement 7% normal and 9% on the most recent one!! If anyones interested in our ritual then I can let you know it.. Lol

But we aren't sure of the first result was a one off, whether it was our "ritual" whether it was due to different staff cos we were tested at different hospitals or what but that's a big improvement hey? We're over the moon but I'm so scared now thinking that it's me. I have perfect cycles but the FS said my tubes may be blocked etc. I'm not sure whether to just try naturally for a few more months or start getting myself tested ASAP. Part of me doesn't think I have any issues but what else could it be :-/

Anyways, for those receiving first results please make sure you have more done. And don't get all worked up off those first ones like I did

Great news on the improvement! You may as well go through all the tests now to see whether you have blocked tubes - you could leave it for a few months and find out you have and you would have wasted some time. Just because you are going through the tests doesnt mean you have to begin any treatment etc just yet.

I am currently awaiting my OH's 4th SA results - these results will hopefully show some improvement because OH has been taking the recommended vitamins :)

That´s fantastic improvement, sarahlou! My hubby´s SA also came back as 1% normal forms, he will soon have a second SA and I´ll have my hycosy. Your experience gives us some hope, am very glad to hear such improvement is possible!

Oh yay! That's great. Do share your ritual with us. :)

Hiya I am new to this website and your thread has given me hope! my husband has just had SA done everything was normal apart from his sperm were 96% abnormal form meaning only 4% was normal! I have irregular cycles (currently under investigation) so for him to have problems too was devastating. What vitamins is your OH taking? As our GP was next to useless and didn't know what to advice she didn’t even fully understand if his abnormal sperm was anything to worry about (not reassuring) any advice would be gratefully appreciated. We have been TTC for 10months now.

wanting - I think 4% is actually considered normal.

I spent weeks researching. The FS asked me what I did for a living cos I knew so much lol!! OH had to have the tests a week apart. So, As a self experiment the first week he did everything right, leading upto the test he was having literally 13 different vitamins :-O vitamin C, vitamin E, Zinc, Grapeseed extract, pyconogel, regular man vitamin and co enzyme Q 10, some of these x 2. He had a banana a day for potassium and a pint of milk. Cooked tomatoes are amazing for sperm they contain selenium (sp) which is excellent for sperm formation etc (has to be cooked so sauces, chopped toms etc) he cut out caffeine and limited alcohol intake, cut down on his smoking (yep he's a smoker which is why the anti oxidant vitamins are vital) no tight pants, not hot baths, no bike riding. His results improved massively but morphology was 7% still a huge improvement. Leading upto the second test he stopped all vitamins, went out with his mates the weekend before it and drank a lot, strangely the morphology was 9% this time but the count reduced, progressive motility decreased and there were a lot more "dead" sperm. A huge difference I noticed was on the first test 5% of the sperm was "stuck together" and on the second test 48% were stuck together which could show how much of an effect lifestyle choices have on the swimmers!! I thought it was fascinating and that was in the space of a week not 3 months as they say! If I remember any more of our ritual I'll let you know. I definitely wouldn't rely on 1 set of results. I wish I'd started getting tested sooner. I'm terrified of the tests is women go through :-/ xxx

When I get home later I'll post all 3 results :) happy to share my knowledge with everyone. This process is so draining. I've felt so lonely with it all. Threw myself into research and it's paid off. I'd love to help anyone going through same as us so my knowledge isn't wasted. We've been discharged from the male side of things. Next to research me... Lol

Thanks Sarahlou! That is a real help. I know what you mean it is all a very frustrating process!!! I have to have a laparoscopy and dye test which is where they inject dye into the uterus and see how it spreads to check for blockages etc (thank goodness I'll be asleep) not looking forward to it at all! BUT if it get's things sorted quicker then I'd rather get it over and done with! It's not until April; I think sometimes the waiting part is worse!!

yep defo, think that will be the next thing for us, I've had all the blood tests etc, everything fine, the dye test scares me :/ the hospital we are with is soo far away aswell. Got home last night to that bloody "15 kids and counting" wow, where's the justice ey? lol is that standard procedure to do the laparoscopy as part of the tests? x

OH's fertility specialist told him to take 1000mg Vitamin C, Zinc and Vitamin E. I have also ordered the OH and myself some fertility plus to see how we get over the next few months x Unfortunately OH cant get the 2nd Feb off now so had to put the appointment back to the 21st Feb  I hate waiting its the worst bit

Hiya, Sorry it has taken me so long to reply. I think the laparoscopy is part of the standard test so that they can see what happens to the dye! but having said that I have been diagnosed with probable endometriosis so they want to see if there are any big patches of that blocking things and if so will treat it (fingers crossed there isn’t) it's best to speak to a doctor about it (well that's if you can find one that won't fob you off i've had a fair few) I saw that '15 with kids' luck lady 15 when all I want is one....for now
