Mastitis

Help! I've just been given antibiotics for mastitis, I am in so much pain! LO is 14 months and I am half trying to stop breastfeeding anyway but I didn't want to do it like this

Any tips on how to deal with the pain?

Warm bath and lots of massage, ibrophren (sp?), warm compress before feed and cold after feed.

Hope it eases up soon. Although I found the pain went within 48hrs of starting antiB's

I got diagnosed today antibiotics aswel my lil boy was getting sick after every feed and I had a fever it was horrible I hope it gets better soon.

feed as often as you can convince your LO to. It relieves the pressure. Take ibuprofen. I usually found the pain left quickly once the AB's kick in.

I believe current thinking is that you should NOT wean while suffering from mastitis. LO is still the best clearer of the lump and infection.
