Hi all, just going to say it plain and simple!

I'm 21, 22 in nov, I have a 3year old, due with my 2nd 2/10/13
I work for sports direct, I (all part time staff) have a 0 hour contract with them which basically entitles me to nothing! Every month my wages change up and down depending on how many hours I do. I can only work wed/thurs & Sunday.
Depending on how much the store takes in the week is how many hours they can spend on having staff in! My "usual" hours are 9-5 wed & thurs 10-4.30 Sunday.
The company has sent to me on Friday a smp form with my mat b1 to say I'm not entitled go to the local dept for work and pensions, filling in the forms right now and I have to send off the last 4 months pay slips.

Has anyone else had this problem and how does it get solved with the government as I would like to know about how they will deal with my earnings when it comes to when I got paid normal pay & holiday pay at the same time (which is every 3/4 months)

Thanks for reading! 😃 xx

I'm not really 100% sure what you mean?

I get MA as I got made redundant during pregnancy and didn't work at my new place long enough to get smp. I filled out the forms and sent off the relevant pay slips (they look more at the weeks you worked if I remember rightly) and I opted for payment every two weeks rather than monthly.

From what I remember it doesn't matter how much you earned as the MA is a standard set amount?

It didn't take long for it to get sorted and I've never had a problem with my payments

Xx

No it's not a set amount

MA is 136 a week OR 90% of your average weekly wage if that's lower, which it will be

You just have to have worked a certain number of weeks out of the last however long (I think it's something like 26 weeks out of the last 66 or something like that) so you should qualify if you've done that. When I did it, I had to send off payslips for 13 weeks of that time. I was allowed to choose which 13 weeks so you need to be careful to send off your best paid weeks. They then work out how much you get, 90% of your average wage up to £136. They don't care whether it's holiday pay or normal pay, they just look at the total amount on your payslip.

Thanks ladies, I've sent the form off with the last 4months pay slips my mat b1 certificate, have tried working out what I'll get a month from them, which if they work it out the same way it should be quite comfortable but I will be missing out on LOADS of hours when I'm due to start mat leave as its back to school and beginning and over Xmas! Typical didn't time that well! About to send off another letter to my company saying instead I'd like to now have the full 9 months off rather than go back and have no hours and no money in march when no one really shops or has money! Will let you know what the government replies back! x
