Maternity allowance?

so i put my claim in over 2wks ago now and have just rang the dwp to see how its going etc, they havent even looked at it yet and will take atleast another 15days for them to process it once its been looked at.

do they backdate it for you once its been processed?

I sent the origonal lot of forms off in July & they sent my payslips etc back & another form about 2 weeks later. When I officially start the first day of my maternity leave (6th sept) I have to send them back the form with the date of that first day & whatever money they owe you, WILL be backdated to that date. It also says somewhere, if I remember correctly, that they generally pay you 2 weeks in arrears??? I could just be imagining that though!
