does any1 know what week is the earliest time u can go on maternity leave

please help xx

:hugs:

29 weeks in the UK.
If you need to go off before this it would be sick leave x

Like Littlewolf says the earliest you can go off is 11wks before your due date and you have to inform your employer of the date you want to start your maternity leave by 15wks before your due date.

Hi :flower: as the others say it's 11 weeks before your due date at the earliest and you need to give 28 days notice of when you intend to take it and also you must tell your employer by your 25th week that you are pregnant if you have not done so already

Yep 11 weeks before your due date is right but a lot of women tend to add any outstanding holidays etc on to this to finish earlier if they can.

X

sorry to jump in but its kinda related, do you NEED your matb1 form to book maternity leave? i wont see my mw til im 28 weeks but thought i needed to tell work at 25 weeks when i intend to leave, have messaged her for it but no response

29 weeks earliest (Although I can go at 26 weeks unpaid for 3 weeks).

If you have annual leave (which you will also accumulate on mat leave) you can tab this on the front (I am so I can get out sooner)

You don't need the Matb form to tell them when you want to go, just have to hand it in at 25 weeks as proof of pregnancy. Best to hang on for it though, don;t feel bad for only giving them 4 weeks notice, it is only the same as if you were resigning.

so you can finish 11 week befor your due date, but must tell your employer that your pregnant by the 25th week is this the time you have to tell them when you intend to finish for you mat leave too ?

I had to tell my employer by last week when I wanted to start maternity leave

You must inform your employer of the date you want to start your maternity leave by the 15th week before you are due - i.e wk 25. And you can start your maternity leave any time from the 11th week before your due date - but you can take any outstanding annual leave to run before this.

You don't have to give them your matb1 form when you tell them if you don't have it but they will probably ask you to send it up as soon as you are given it because it is the proof of your pregnancy and due date.

I notified my work when I was 23 weeks (only cos it was last day of term for summer) but I didn;t have my matb1 so followed that on about 2 weeks (got delayed as was in hospital) they have just sat on the paperwork waiting for it, it hasn't been a problem :)
