hey girls- hope dont mind me popping in from 2nd tri?

just wondering what maternity pads do you use? are they any good or to stick with normal ones?

how long do you bleed for after too?

many thanks for your help

I used normal always pads for 1.5 weeks, then normal panty liners :)

I had some from mothercare and some from boots. I preferred the ones from boots. I would recommend getting proper maternity pads. Also some witch hazel to dab on your pads, it helps you heal up xx

I also recommend getting proper maternity pads, good thick ones. The bleeding is often quite heavy to begin with, and I had more confidence in the bigger pads - also they help protect stitches if you have any. Normal sanitary towels can rub on stitches. I switched to Always Ultra Night pads after 2 weeks - the extra long ones (I also used 2 normal ones together to make them longer). I was sick of the chunky ones by then and things had lightened up a lot. Overall my bleeding lasted about 5 weeks.

Just to say, it's best to have a pack of maternity ones even if you don't use them for the bleeding as when/if your waters go, a lot of hospitals like to have a look at the waters to see the colour and normal pads absorb it all away =]
I know especially in my case as my waters were green I was told to definately wear a maternity one on the way to hospital so they could have a look
I used tescos btw

If I were to go again I would use ordinary pads. I used Mothercare ones but they are so bulky that they were extremly uncomfortable when sitting. It was swollen enough down there and with stitches I really didn't need a big thick pad that felt like I was sitting on a rolled up towel. You might just need to change ordinary ones more often.

I used the Asda maternity pads, didn't even get thru a whole pack and they are cheap, then onto Always night time after that, working fine for me :)

I used boots own. Bought 4 packs of them and used them for the lochia and then the first period as well as it was extremely heavy. I had stithes and found that the pads being so thick helped a bit as there was a bit more padding down there!!

Old fashioned thick pads are the same as maternity pads-its the newer 'ultra' types that will absorb everything away, I just bought some very thick old fashioned variety of kotex (which seem to have stopped being sold most places now), used up both packs and then moved onto bodyform xx

For the first few days, I used the maternity pads the hospital provided - thicker than the thickest Always pads - and also used witch hazel pads on top of those to provide relief down there. Once I got home and went through what was left from the hospital, I switched to the Always Long Super Maxi and by 2 weeks of being home, I was able to use Always Regular Maxi.

Now (at about 3.5 weeks), I wear either the regular maxi or a pantiliner, depending on how lucky I'm feeling, as I still sometimes bleed a bit more than others.

I used the Always Infiniti overnight pads for the first week or so when the bleeding was heavier, then used the Always infinity regular pads and now I'm using panty liners. I bled for about 3 weeks, and only spotted the 4th week.. still spotting a teensy bit now, but not much.

ETA: The always pads are really nice and thin while still absorbing a TON. I left all of the big bulky maternity pads at the hospital.

I did/used the same. Left the bulky at the hospital, and used Always once I was home. I hated the bulk, but I did love the ice pack pads used for the first 24 hours. They made the stitched area feel so much better....but they were super bulky!

I've used the Asda brand and wilkinsons brand! and I prefer the wilkinsons one! My bleeding has slowed down a lot now and I'm on day 6 so think ill use the normal pads from now on xx

I used the ones from the hospital for the first couple of days, then switched to depends with Always liners. The ones from the hospital really took 2 people and were a pain.

I also switched to Always by the time I got home I wasnt bleeding that much

I bled heavily for a prolonged period of time, I used two maternity pads at once to soak up the blood (TMI sorry!)
I used boots, asda, tesco and mothercare pads:haha: I got through about 8+ packs of pads. Boots I felt were the best.
I bled for about 3 months PP.
I found the maternity pads were great as they cushioned my stitches and soreness and didn't cause irritation unlike normal pads. My MW told me not to use normal pads due to infection.

Good luck:flow:x

A brand called Lil-lets. I got some free in a bounty pack thing after giving birth, and they were really comfortable x

I used Asda ones, and then went onto normal pads. They worked fine and i found that the thicker maternity ones were softer on my stitches.

I used Mothercare and Boots, I found Mothercare were the best at first when the bleeding was really heavy and it was uncomfortable to sit as they were quite thick :)
