May 2011 - 53 days and counting... (DUE DATES PG1)

Haha god knows, i just thought it was down to people feeling more horny in August!! lol xx

Hiya Ladies

I had my 28 week appointment today and also my GTT
I have never felt so uncomfortable in all my life than today, the midwife would not stop going on about my weight. I have huge chunky arms, so usually need the large cuff, but the midwife said to the student "she will probably need the thigh cuff" the large cuff is fine for me, and fastens correctly to.

I seriously feel so low today, and I am dreading my next appointment in case it is her I see.
My BP was 122/86 so not perfect, but not yet high either, considering at the beginning the bottom figure was 80.
The midwife measured my bump and said "you measure 31 weeks, but that will be because there is extra of you"

Sorry for the moan ladies, I know I shouldn't be this weight and be pregnant, but fact of the matter is, I have been blessed 4 times at around this weight, and had no problems at all!, no pregnancy or labour or birthing problems, everything was straight forward. I wish they would treat me with some respect :(

If I hear no news about the GTT then everything checks out, then next appointment is when I am 32 weeks

Hope your all keeping well xxxx :hugs:

I keep thinking I want to labour naturally. But then I think it mentally screwed me up a little going through over a day of labouring with back-to-back baby, an epidural that worked on one side, not being able to eat at all for 2days! And it ended up in section. All I remember is shaking violently afterwards because I was in shock and exhausted, and I couldn't hold ds because I shook so much. The epidural didn't wear off until the following day (about 20hrs) as they had to pump so much in. It was just the worst experience. I'm leaning towards going for an elective as it'll be all nice and planned, calm, I will have more than 5mins warning!! Is it hard getting a midwife on your side for an elective? What's the process, do I have to see a consultant etc? XX

considering your history i dont think anyone will have a problem with it if you choose an elective just tell your midwife and your be referred to a consultant when you see consultant they will discuss it with you the choice is normally yours if you had c section before x

ladyredlainey omg that midwife sounds bloody horrible!

You should have no problems asking for one, you were through a very stressful labour, and which turned out you got a C section in the end. I hope they accept you wanting one, and that you can relax knowing whats going to happen xxx :hugs:

ladyredlainey- What a rude midwife!! That 'thigh cuff' comment was COMPLETELY out of order. You BP IS actually perfect, I wouldnt worry about that at all. This is the time you require the most support and having a miserable bitch of a midwife making you feel low is so disgusting that I feel you should make a complaint.

Thanks ladies, she really upset me, and the student midwife with her wasn't much better :(
But if I get no word back from the test, then next appointment isn't until 32 weeks, so I am really hoping it drags, as I can't face seeing that woman again xx

WOW thats crazy! I think if my Doctor said that to me my husband would smack him. Im a originally a size 16 US and they have never said anything about my weight at all. He told me I was measuring a week ahead, and the Diabeties test was not bad at all.
Im sorry you have a mean midwife :(

Ladyredlainey, that bump pic you posted looked lovely. in no way do I reckon you'd need a thigh cuff! that is just ridiculous. Midwife sounds like a right cow!! :( XX

Thanks for the advice ladies. I just have this feeling, and have done for a while now that if I dont elect for a section that its going to end in one anyway. I said to oh I have a bad feepling its going to be an emergency one again. It's already stressing me out thinking about the unpredictability of labour. Oh I don't know. 9weeks tops to think it over I guess. XX

I would most assuredly lodge a complaint with the office about this BIYA!

That's was such a horrible and insensitive thing to say! I would lodge a complaint too, the appointments should reassure you not make you feel like crap. Some midwives really shouldn't be in that profession! Hope you are Ok xxxx

Thanks ladies, I am feeling OK now, but at the time I was so close to tears, and while sitting in the waiting room for the 2 hours, the midwife kept coming in, trying to make jokes to cheer me up no doubt, but then when it came time for her to take the blood sample again, she tried once! and couldn't get it, so had to get a doctor, so that left me waiting for another 20 minutes! till a doctor was free, and he got the vein straight away.

I have only had issues with one other midwife, and this one now, but I do get on with 3 of them, they have a laugh with me, they do bring up my weight, but in a much nicer manner, but I know they need to do so.

Anyways, sorry for my rambling, thanks for your replies about it, much appreciated xx :hugs:

Midwife appointment tomorrow, hope bubs is measuring on target, I feel like her growing has slowed down??? Dont know why I think that, maybe I'm just being silly. Also she is not moving anywhere near as much which scares the hell out of me, but I know that's probably due to lack of space. I panic and worry too much I think!! Lol x

I have a Dr. appt. tomorrow too! but my little girl is still moving like crazy!

I have consultant and scan tomorrow and find out if i will be allowed to return to work! Don't want to go back now. loving extra time at home with my little boy!

Ladyredlainey- so sorry you had a pooey experience. Big Hug. Im not a small girl- but my MW spoke to me once at the beginning of my pregnancy and hasnt really discussed it since. So i feel for you- she souns like a prize Cow!!
Oh by the way we are due on the same day!!:happydance::kiss:

Wow lots of appointments for everyone tmrw! hope they all go without a hitch! Can't believe a midwife would make you feel so uncomfortable in an appointment! though i can sadly believe it, i have the opposite problem which believe me can be just as stressful. I have always suffered with a low BMI except when i am pregnant and in my contraception appointment with the nurse after having my 1st son she gave me a literlal bollocking over the fact that i was too thin! Hypocritically she was just as bloody thin as i was but talk about giving me a complex! so i do feel for people who have had bad experiences also.

Have my next mw appointment on tuesday, haven't seen anyone for well over 5 weeks so will be nice to get checked over! Just wish this bloody upset stomach would leave me alone now :(

Good luck ladies for those who have appointments tomorrow, hope bubs are happy and healthy and same goes for the mummies too! xxx
