We got excited together, we got scared together, we worried together, we laughed together, and we produced beautiful babies together!! :hugs:

And now it's time to start our new thread as fabulous mummy's... so get posting girls!! xxx

Aw Leanne that is a lovely opening post!! Can't wait to share our time as mummy's together. Need to change my ticker at some point today, just noticed I'm still pregnant according to it :haha:

Rose I hope Isobelle was more settled for you tonight, it won't be long until her days and nights are sorted. Hope you got some sleep :hugs:

Yay! Found it :) I agree, lovely opening post. Did get much better night last night although shes been asleep most of the day again so wondering if i might be for it again later  XxX

Rose, glad you had a better night last night. I hope it's the same for you tonight :hugs:

Hope everyone else is good. How are all our beautiful babies doing? I can't believe Connor is 3 weeks old already!! Where has the time gone? xx

Morning girls, hope you are all ok and managing to get enough sleep! How was isobelle last night rose?

Suze, it seems like 5 mins ago we were celebrating connors arrival, cant believe how quick its going now. How is your little cutie doing? Im finding having a boy is a challenge in the weewee department... Its like a loaded gun ready to fire urine at me when I least expect it! Theon doesnt have the nickname 'sprinkler' for no reason!

We ventured into preston to do some shopping yesterday. What a nightmare! There had been an incident on the M6 and the whole place was traffic chaos. Took us ages to get there, and then to add insult to injury, we opened the boot to get the pram out and realised we had left the adapters to attach the carseat at home. Arghhhh I could have cried. So we ended up going around mcdonalds drive through and going home again lol. Wont make that mistake again!

Theon has his first family do today... Its grandads birthday so we are heading over for a birthday/jubilee buffet! Theon is in a very cuddly mood today, happy as larry sleeping on me but as soon as i put him down he kicks off so hopefully he'll be happy enough being passed around and cuddled.

Need some advice from you suze and rose actually about formula. We've been making fresh bottles every time he wants to feed and then disposing of any left overs within 2 hours but its such a pain. My mum says just to make up bottles and keep them in the fridge for up to 24 hours but what do you guys do? X

I've been doing what you do, disposing after 2hrs. They don't recommend storing it anymore but it was completely acceptable when i had my other two. Not sure why they changed their minds about doing it that way?! Isobelle wasn't too bad last night, think we're making progress and shes wide awake today :) Can't believe she's a week old today!! XxX

Morning everyone, so sorry I haven't been on to officially post Caitlin's birth announcement yet but I had a very intermittent signal in hospital and am only just starting to get myself sorted now. I have to say that after the events of the last 4 days, I think Caitlin may be an only child :) not only did I have the failed induction and the caesarean to contend with but I then got up on Friday morning to have a shower once the spinal block had worn off and blood started pouring down my legs. By the time I got someone to take notice I'd lost 2 litres of blood and had to be taken back to surgery. Turns out I had blood clots in my uterus which were stopping it from contracting back down to its normal size so my body thought there was still a baby in there and was still supplying it with increased blood flow which was just pouring back out of me. I was given another spinal block while they cleared the clots and then had a blood transfusion so all in all not quite the laid back birthing centre birth I'd hoped for :)

Ah never mind she's here now and she's gorgeous. I couldn't ask for more! It's taking longer than I expected to get breastfeeding established though. She seems to feed for about 2-3 mins and then just loses interest. She had us up literally all night last night as she would feed and fall asleep and then as soon as we put her down she'd wake up and want to feed again. Does anyone have any tips for settling babies in their Moses baskets?

Rose, glad Isobelle is more settled at night for you.

Leanne he is doing great thanks, just sleeps most of the time. Yes I agree, having a girl first I am totally rubbish with boy parts an nappy changes. We have had an incidence of him managing to pee in his own face  A good story for when he is 18 :haha: I know they tell you to make one up at a time but I don't! My steriliser takes 6 bottles at a time so I make up 6 bottles at a time and keep them in the fridge. As long as they are used within 24 hours they are fine. I did the same last time and never had any problems. Even my midwife said that making up a few and keeping them in the fridge is fine. To be honest I think the companies are just covering their own backs by saying to make up one at a time. I just put the bottle in the microwave for a few seconds to warm it when I need it and give it a good shake to avoid hot spots. I could never cope with making up one at a time. Sorry your trip out yesterday was a bit of a disaster, hope you have a lovely day today though.

Nicola, sounds like you had an absolutely awful time :hugs: Hope you are getting settles at home now. Hopefully feeding starts getting easier for you, especially once your milk comes in properly, but like I said to Leanne, if it doesnt work out or it's still too difficult dont feel guilty for stopping! Have you tried swaddling? I found that worked with both of mine, and I put a rolled up blanket beside them to make them feel like they are still being held. The startle response can make babies wake all the time so the swaddling stops it. Some babies prefer being a bit propped up too so putting blankets under the top of the mattress can also help. If those don't work, try putting her in the cot. For some reason Erin hated the Moses basket but was fine in her cot for some reason. I hope one of those ideas work for you hun so you get some more sleep :hugs:

Suze you are a lifesaver - thank you so much! I just tried propping her mattress up with a blanket and put her in it and she stayed asleep for 2 hours! That's the most she's slept since we were in hospital. She slept no bother and was so placid in hospital and after reading your post I realised that her cot in hospital was propped up on an angle cos she had a mucus problem (apparently common in c section babies) and they said it would help her to get it up so she must have gotten used to sleeping like that.

I bought a carton of formula earlier as well as she was screaming like she'd never been fed in a week and we made up one bottle which she took a few sips from and settled immediately. I'm hoping not to give up on breastfeeding completely if I can get her to take both but I don't think she was getting enough from me to fill her.

Oh god nicola, you poor love, you did go through the mill didnt you! At least you have your gorgeous girl now. Theon was the same, he deffo wasnt getting enough food from me. Hopefully your milk will kick in full flow soon enough but if not, the formula is there ready to be used. X

Im going to do what you do with bottles suze, its ridiculous how many times we have to boil the kettle doing it one at a time! How long do you microwave them for? X

Isobelle had the mucous problem too, they told me it was because she came out so quickly, they told me it also affects c section babies. It scared me to death when she started bringing it all up. Something to do with them not being squeezed enough whilst being born. Also found something else out today whilst reminiscing about the birth, she was born completely in the sac waters didn't go as her head came out at all! He told me she was in a complete bubble after she'd just slid out, wish i'd been with it enough at the time to see that! XxX

Need to update my ticker soon. And i finally wrote my birth story last night... And then accidently closef the window. I could have cried! Seems bit pointless now, its well over a week ago!

Wow Rose I bet that would have been strange to see! Yeah I got told the same thing about the mucus, they said it usually gets squeezed out in the birth canal but obviously c section babies never make it that far. It's scary when it starts coming up isn't it? I was on my own with her when she first started coughing it out as I'd sent Steven home for some sleep and I panicked like mad and ran out with her in my arms thinking she was choking. The midwives just laughed at me and showed me how to help her get it up. How long did it take Isobelle to clear it all?

Leanne - yeah it was a bit of a rubbish time but she is so worth it. I'm not sure if I will do it again though. They said it shouldn't affect future pregnancies but I'm still scared that it would and they wouldn't be able to stop it next time. I had to give them permission to perform a hysterectomy on me the other night before I was took into theatre in case they couldn't stop the bleeding and that terrified me. I think if I got pregnant again I'd be a nervous wreck!

It's hard to know what to do with bottles isn't it? There's so much conflicting advice out there. I don't think I could handle making them up one at a time though, it must take a lot of work!

Nicola I am glad propping the mattress helped. Did you get a better nights sleep last night? No wonder your experience has put you off, but in time you will forget about the bad bits and the midwife is right it is highly likely next time would be straight forward. In a way it is good to get Caitlin used to a bottle early as it can be hard to get babies to take a bottle when they have been breastfed from birth. At least if she takes a bottle on top of breastfeeding if you want a night out or off, you always have the option of bottles.

Leanne I usually put the bottles in the microwave for between 10 and 20 seconds. If I find it's a bit hot I just run the bottle under the cold tap for a bit.

Rose that is amazing! I have heard it is good luck for a baby to be born in the sac too!

We had the health visitor again today and Connor is now 9lb 6.5oz!! The 0-3 month sleep suits that were far too big for him when he was born it perfect now. Can't believe how quick he is growing!! We don't see the health visitor now for 2 weeks, she said since everything is going fine we don't need a visit every week. Really glad as its a pain having to wait in for her to arrive just to do a weigh in!!

Awww glad hes growing well suze :) I was on my own when the mucous started too. I was changing her nappy, i thought she was yawning so looked in her mouth (just to be nosey lol) and the whole of her throat was full of bubbly liquid just bobbing up and down, i turned her on her side immediately then when it had come out scooped her up and ran to the nearest midwife. I thought something was really wrong with her but they just casually told me what it was. Felt a bit daft but honestly thought she was choking! I was shaking at the time! Wish they'd warned me that it could happen. Isobelle is a bit snuffly today, shes got a blocked nose and a sore bottom. We had quite a bad night with her but she eventually settled in the car seat, not ideal but at least she slept for a few hours. Nicola meant to say poor you, you've been through the wars haven't you but my posts have to be that quick nowadays so i hope i don't offend anyone but seeming to not acknowledge their posts  Hope everyone's ok :hugs: XxX

Wow rose thats amazing, didnt even know that was possible!

I had a straight forward birth and would have to mentally prepare myself for getting pregnant again now I know what pain im letting myself in for, so I can totally understand why you would think twice about doing it again nicola. I think you forget how bad the pain is though... Just a week on i dont think i could give you a good description of what a contraction pain feels like!

Excellent news about Connor's weight Suze, he must be feeding well! And I agree its a total pain not knowing when midwives or health visitors are going to turn up, i just wish they could give you a time. Midwife has been here this morning and Theon is weighing 8lb 15&1/2oz so he's back to his birth weight plus an extra half oz now. My chunky monkey! We tried 0-3 clothes on him yesterday and he looked like a sack of spuds! His feet are so long though I have had to chop the feet out of his newborn baby grows, and the 0-3 booties we have for him dont fit!

So how did everyone sleep last night? Glad suze's tip worked for you nicola, sleep deprivation is horrible. After 4 days without sleep, when I did start dropping off I was waking having panic attacks not knowing who I was, where I was, shaking and hyper ventilating. I got to the point where I was scared to go to sleep. Like the midwife said, its no wonder they use sleep deprivation as a form of torture, its horrendous x

Aw that's great Theon is above his birth weight now. It won't be long until he is fitting those 0-3 month clothes! Aw that's cute about his feet, hopefully the 0-3 month sleep suit feet fit him.

Oh I know Leanne, lack of sleep is awful!! I used to do that last time, I would wake up in a total panic thinking I had taken her into bed with us and she had slipped down or off the bed! It would be a good minute or so for me to realise she was in her Moses basket! It was awful! We are so lucky this time, Connor sleeps so well just now. He goes down at about 9, up between 1 and 1.30, settled by 2, up between 4 and 5 and back down until 8. The huge difference I find is that he settles well and quickly. Really hope it continues like this!

Xxx

You lucky thing! I think Theon needs his mummy and daddy to have a routine before he can get one. With being out at my dads til late last night his sleep was totally thrown out. He wakes up about 3 times in the night usually but last night it took over an hour each time to settle him again so I was thankful of Ric taking him at 8am and letting me sleep in til 10.30am. Amazing how 2 1/2 hours sleep can make you feel so much better!

Im avoiding buying outfits with feet in now suze, socks are the way forward! He's obviously got that trait from me, im a size 9

Hello :)
Bottles; great gadget is the milk powder storage pot. It's make by avent costs under a fiver. It has 3 compartments for powder. You measure the exact amount of
Powder into each section (so you've enough for 3 bottles) then when you go out just take your bottles with the right amount of boiled water in it and your pot with the right amounts of powder in it.
I used it all the time with Chloe. Never used bottles with Katie.
I'll find a link to one so you can see.

I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooo tierd!!! I have loads of milk and little miss Ashleigh eats alot! I gave her a 4oz bottle of
Breast milk which she drank all
Of! And quite quickly at that. Wont be long and the feeding will
Settle
Down. Going to go and get a swaddle blanket Wednesday (if I make it that long) as she gets startled easily when she gets out down too. I was thinking about getting a tomy Moses basket mattress.

Has everones after pains
Stopped yet? Today ive been in pain especially! Ouchy

And here is my
