Mayhem Babies! May 2011 mummies and babies

Because I accrued all bank holidays whilst i was on maternity leave so am taking them plus some annual leave. xx

Evening!

Crazy day at work! nearly had to deliver a baby outside the main reception!! lol! luckily the partner managed to get this woman into a wheelchair and i ran her upto delivery suite screaming "i need to push!!!" it was SO scary i thought sh*t, if she pushes this baby out in the lift this could be fun!
Still got the lurgy :( now don't have a voice either!

Sorry i haven't had chance to catch up on the many pages of reading but i hope you have all had a fairly good day?
Back for another 11 hours of it tomorrow! joy! lol xxx

oh how scary but exciting charlotte!! Hope work wasnt too bad, and hope you is feeling better soon :hugs:

24 thats a good idea! They asked me if i wanted to take any holidays before returning, but I may as well save them for the school holidays and have some time witht he boys, although I still have to pay childcare :(

:hugs: 24, hopefully you dont have to wait too long for #2 then maybe you can be a sahm?

Charlotte  all happening where you are! That must've been pretty scary hun, hope tomorrows eaier on you.

New, why do you have to pay childcare if you're off anyway? That sucks!

I think we will TTC at the end of this year, and then I'll take a "career break" and stay at home for a while. I'm not sure if my current job will work with Sam, so I may have a complete change if I hate it. xx

24/7- Sorry if i'm being thick but if you can't afford to be a SAHM with one baby how will you with 2? (that sounds really nosey and possibly slightly off but i can't word it right) I'm not sure what i'm doing about work yet so interested to see how others are managing.

OH has a loan he took out for his Mum that ends when my maternity leave would from baby two, which would free up enough money for me to be able to stay at home. xx

He was fine, he thought it was hilarious and tried to do it again

He did mention needing a poo a few times today, then sat on the loo and said it was hiding, I don't expect a poo in the loo TBH, but I think he will poo tomorrow, he normally poos at least 2 times a day. Good thing he wears pants to catch it

Hope it works out for you 24 and you get the right balance with work and Sam:hugs:

Meow are you thinking of being a SAHM?

hiding poo:haha: he's cute hun. Fingers crossed he does one in the toilet tomorrow!

I have a contract with the nursery mummy, so I have to maintain the payments even if I keep the boys off. Normally would only have to pay half fee's for Joshua during holidays, but I need to use the holiday club so will have to do another contract so will be in the same boat :dohh: (although I dont have to pay the term time fee's at all if I use their holiday club) I do get 2 weeks holiday from the nursery where i dont have to pay any fee's, so of course will incorporate those into a school holiday lol

I have 7 weeks A/L to use between now and end of August, so will try booking most of the school holidays off i think lol take my 2 week nursery break in the summer holidays so I only have 5 weeks to pay for instead of 7 and hopefully it'll work out.

I worked out last night I get an extra £85 a month from what I have now when I go back to work, but after tax credits I still have a £198 a month childcare bill :dohh: it really doesnt pay to try and work!

We would get no help with childcare, so if I worked full time, and Sam was in nursery his nursery bill would be higher than my wages!! Thank goodness for shift work so I can work around hubby!!

24- That sounds ideal then! You wouldnt have to work for long at all if you're going to ttc at the end of the year :)

mummy- I'm not sure yet. It's really difficult because my job i have now is stupid hours and i will be worse off going back. We get child and working tax credit because im on maternity leave and if decide to stay at home then we will too. We'd just be able to scrape by on DH wages plus tax credits. I do kind of feel bad for claiming but DH works full time and we've both paid loads of taxes and never go out/holiday etc. I just think that we are both decent people and the government give it to top up people who have low incomes. Considering we live on about £15,000 after tax! It's not like we go out of our way to do the least possible work and lie etc.

My other option is to set up own business. I really really want to do it and i could probably start it about april/may. And if it's successful should bring in quite a bit of money!

Am I understanding right that you're 100 pounds roughly worse off by working new?:nope:

Meow, your own business sounds ideal, what would it be in? Dont feel bad claimimg hun, you've paid your taxes and thats what its there for!

mummy- I'm at college training to be a beauty therapist. I'll be qualified by May so will be able to offer the basics such as waxing, manicures, pedicures, make-up, facials and eye lash and eye brow treatments. Then i'm hoping to build on it with other courses so i can do more. I'd be able to work around Josh then as well which would be nice. I'd have to be mobile and work from home first and then hopefully rent a space somewhere in say a hair salon or open my own place.

Meow, dont feell bad claiming, without tax credits most families wouldnt be able to get by, I do feel bad for wanting another baby when I know tax credits will be helping us more than now, but when the babas are in school I am going to college and uni so I know I will pay back the tax credits I get in tax x x x

meow that sounds really good hun :)

mummy, yup, over £100 a month worse off by working :( but needs must!

Considering we live on about £15,000 after tax!

Ummmmmmmmmmmm, HOW??????????? I know pricing structures are different there, but honestly, we pay almost half that in RENT per year! (just over $10k for us) We also have 5 people and one income... but I am blown away by what you live on! Any money saving tips you have, I'd love to hear them!

Wiggler- we use the general term "potty training" to cover getting them out of diapers and going into the toilet or little potty
Good luck with Dylan pooping!

New- @ going back in 3 days

on the subject of working... Wer going to try to move back closer to our families after may (can exchange then) get a 3 bed, have the youngest 2 share and step son have the smallest room then swap around if no#2 is a girl a few years down the line. OH will look for a job that is days or warehouse 6am-2pm shifts and I will then look for evening or night stuff in kitchens or retail/supermarkets/hotels  wer fine for money and will be still for no#2. As we only want 2 I think it makes sense do the baby thing now then its done. In a nice way I mean! :haha:
So if we get work around each other then we dont need childcare or if not possible we will have family to help. MIL retires next year and is hinting at getting to see Leo more and help out if we need her too. Hope we can get shifts like we want. Id quite like night/evening work in a supermarket, im so sad!

Sounds like a great plan meow:thumbup: Definately something you can work round Josh!

Wiggler, aren't tax credits kind of like getting the money you pay in tax back? I wouldn't feel bad about getting them!
