Mayhem Babies! May 2011 mummies and babies

Just does seem in this country you are better off not working or earning less in the long run you get help that you are better off than the people who do have a 2 parent working family?
They send out the wrong messages to people why should New work & be worse off?
Just doesn't seem right to me :(
Why should me & dh work me be tired all the time just for them to take of child tax credits off us in April makes u think why bother?
I haven't had a payrise in 5 years yet everything else goes up bills etc rant over :)

Writing up the initial budget is great fun and you feel all rich lol then you get half way through the month and realise most of the money has disappeard:dohh:

I think people are getting screwed over everywhere wud its horrible. Even if you do get promoted and earn more money they find a way to take it from you!

They definitely do send out the wrong message... I get in my bank £1050 or something, out of that I have rent, £450, council tax £80, utility bills £80+ then luxary bills (TV licence, phone, internet, car etc etc).. and now I can add childcare £100 lolol not a lot left .... my sister, who hasnt worked in 13years, gets in her bank about the same £1000-£1200 a month BUT her rent is paid, her council tax is paid... go figure

No offence New but your sister is a prime example of what i'm trying to get across x

Just tried to google the drop in threshold of child tax credit meow & it's all gobbledy gook to me so will just wait & see when i realise i'm poor lol x

Argh my reply never posted. fucking dongle :dohh:

Meow - Thanks, I feel a lot better hearing that, all I hear is benefit bashing and I know my OH works hard and I am planning on getting a good job (if the market alows) if there is shit all once I am qualified then Mcdonalds will do, that was a main factor of me putting off another baby.

New, You are living WAY below the poverty line, £13k is nothing, go see the CAB or your local JCP x x x

Wiggler thats all the tax credits said i am entitled too...

next month i will get the additional 70% childcare into my bank but I havenmt counted that as its not mine its for the nursery, I just have to make up the difference lol

:hi:

I'm confused by tax credits etc:wacko: I'm trying to work out what I'd end up earning part time to what I'd get a month on benefit/credits as a sahm until Aaron goes to nursery?

I'd love to be a sahm after waiting 10 years for him. I want to be there 24/7 and witness his baby/toddler milestones as i dont think we will be lucky enough to get pregnant again:cry: I don't mind living on a budget if I get to be with Aaron all day:cloud9:

I'm hoping work refuses my part time request and that will make my decision for me lol. Hubby's on a good wage but he's not used to sharing lol. Before Aaron we paid bills each according to each others wage so what was left was our own money but now aarons here it will have to change!

wud, no offence taken, she is one of the reasons I am amdamant i have to work - i dont know how she can be happy with herself seeing people work damm hard for less than her! Worse thing is i asked her the other day if i could use her paypal for a £6 payment (mine wasnt working) she said she was skint so i'd have to drive to the next town to put the \£6 in her bank before she could do it for me arghhhh .... although she does have 3D Tvs, widescreen cinema screens, 3 laptops etc etc etc

harvey its a very complicated decision to make :hugs: I hoped work would be awkward with me too and make it harder, but nope lol they so far have been nothing but accomodating!

if your hubby is on a reasonable wage Harvey u'll just get your original child tax credits & child benefit whether you stay at home, work part time or full time i don't think that will change hun?

My dh earns a reasonable wage too much to qualify for any extra help & not enough to pay a mortgage & everything else for 3 children? Hence where we get stuck?

I might get a little more tax credits next year as they aren't allowed to class maternity pay as earnings so going on last years earnings won't have earned much?

I just don't get it they call it working tax credits yet if you work more you don't get it work less & they give u it laughable really?
BTW i'm not aiming this at anyone just my own personal moan lol!

Wud, my opinion too!! I miss out on my son for others to stay at home, and it's not fair, the system sucks!!

No offence New but your sister is a prime example of what i'm trying to get across x

OHs ex was saying to him today how she gets all the benefits and doesnt have to pay rent, tax gets help with bills and hardly has any outgoings and cant understand why we dont :dohh: I prefer not getting help as it makes us feel more independent. I feel bad sometimes for not working but I lost my job and at the mo its not easy for me to get a job here, as its a smallt own and OH's hours are weird.
But I spend my time looking after Leo and Gary and being a good little housewife-to-be so im working for my keep :haha:

And it's not a dig wiggler or anything personal, but we both work and have less money than you!! And it doesn't seem fair! :(

Harvey:hugs: Hope it works out so you can stay home!

I agree with the moan. Really gets to me for eg that we pay a fortune in health costs then have to pay a fortune in tax for others health insurance:growlmad: Guess just got to get on with it though!

New, that was mean of your sister!

I look at my life now & how busy it is & how i can't keep up with the housework & think hmmm this is my life before going back to work how on earth will i fit it all in god help me lol :)

wud I THINK the idea of wtc is to help make it more like a proper wage so its easier to work, so if you earn a P/T wage they make it up to a F/T wage almost, so if you already earning a F/T wage then you dont get as much (although you get a bonus if you work over 30hrs!)

maternity pay isnt taxable pay so nope its not calculated in the april review... I declare 6K earnings there abouts (its all right lol), and my mat pay has been about 3.3K so that means I have earned less than half the amount declared so I am hoping for some repayment in my renewal!

Just makes u a better person than your sister New i just have to tell myself if we all didn't work what would happen to the world it just wouldn't work so u just have to get on with it?

I am looking forward to seeing my friends at work they are a lovely bunch just not looking forward to the lack of sleep i have loved these 9 months of sleep bah the first few weeks of night feeds & when Livi wakes here & there in the night i'm gonna be a zombie :)
BUT i've done it before for 6 years i can do it again..................honest
