Hi there

This is my first post on here!! I'm 8 weeks and feeling ridiculously sick all day every day. Trying not to complain to much because I'm over the moon to be pregnant.

I'm also feeling bloated and it's probably because all I seem to be able to eat is bread, biscuits and potatoes!!

Me and DH are both getting bored of chicken+mash and pie+chips so I'm after some ideas for meals which will be healthier but won't make me wanna throw up!

Any ideas please?!

Beef stew seems to be working for me! As well as pasta with tomato sauce, just plain food really!

But i have found that if i cook my favourite food from pre-pregnancy, then i can normally eat it, even if it cooking it makes me feel a bit sick!

I am approx 10 weeks today (to be confirmed with scan next week). I have had morning sickness 24/7 since week 6. i have tried absolutely everything under the sun I can think of:
. bananas
. ginger
. morning sickness tablets with extra B6 and ginger in them
. dry crackers
. snacking rather then meals to avoid empty stomach
. water
. fizzy drink
. fresh air
. nana naps
. extra garlic

I have learnt I have major aversions to pasta in particular quick cook pasta. Im keeping up with a healthy diet with some special treats in it.

I am also experiencing light headiness as well...

Any help would be FANTASTIC!?!?!?!?

Thanks for the ideas (although some of them made me feel sick just thinking about them HA HA!!)

I have been feeling very light headed and dizzy too, standing up is a real struggle and I can't stay on my feet very long without feeling like I'm going to pass out. Went to my first midwife appointment and it turns out I have low blood pressure (as a result of the pregnancy) which explains why I've been feeling this way. Perhaps could be the same for you?

I haven't found anything that helps the morning sickness yet. Sour sweets are about the best remedy I can find, but even then it doesn't keep it away for long.

I've not had as bad MS as some of you por ladies, but one thing that definitely makes the nausea worse for me is eating yogurt. I have no idea why, maybe a dairy thing?

The only things that have consistently helped have been Pringles.

I've had all day ms since 6w and just 2 days ago I found the one thing I can eat without wanting to puke/stop myself from that feeling is raisin toast with a bit of butter. I have serious aversions to all meat just thinking about steak makes me want to puke. Drinking water makes me want to puke :(.

But I find that eagle brand medicated oil helps ALOT. One drop on a tissue and sniffing it helps soooo much! I hated the smell as a kid but MIL insisted to give it a try. I'm gonna try Vicks vapour smelling thingie to see if that works for when I'm not home. Dh is saying im starting to smell like an old sick person -.-.

I was looking this up the other day and I found the NHS website really useful for ways to prevent morning sickness:

https://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Morning-sickness/Pages/Treatment.aspx

The tip on low blood pressure - I'm going to get that looked into, as I've had dizzy spells and have slightly low blood pressure anyway, so that would make sense!

For meal ideas, how about:

- Soup (I find fresh vegetables tend not to make me feel sick and I feel like I'm giving the baby lots of nutrients)

- Jacket potato with a salad (I am loving - tomatoes, cucumber, rocket, olives, apple and orange). I'm veggie, so I have some hummus on my potato, but you could have like chicken mayo (shop bought mayo of course) or tuna mayo. Or have jacket potato with your chicken or pie as something different.

-Risotto? I have veggie risotto or pea and mint (the mint really helps). You could have roast chicken risotto, pea and ham risotto?

- Egg fried rice, with stirfried chicken and veg. I find this is OK without a sauce, or just a bit of soy sauce and it doesn't make me ill.

- BBC good food have a good "healthy" section, here's the chicken recipes: https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/content/recipes/healthy/healthy-chicken/

The healthy stuff seems to be less rich and more fresh food, which I think is exactly what we need to stop us being sick!! :D

Doc advised me to eat little and often and not even attempt to eat a meal at the moment, with throwing up so often.

At the moment I can manage just over 1/2 a cheese toastie, 1- 1 1/2 slices of toast, a few spoonfuls of cheerios, a few spoonfuls of custard, about 1/3 or a bag of chips and peas (but they NEED vinegar! LOL), a couple of slices of pizza....pretty much everything else I've brought straight back up. Also found that having a little bit, then leaving it for 5 - 10 mins then going back and repeating helps. Not much use if you're trying to eat something hot I'm afraid!

I have been eating Dairylea Lunchables for lunch and they go down an absolute treat! Nice and healthy too, as they have added calcium and vitamin D. Just about to try and eat an avocado now to top up on my veg intake!

I found fruit easier to manage than vegetables when I was going through the worst MS. Mostly just pineapple and satsumas but it was better than nothing. Other than that I survived pretty much on mashed potatoes and spoonfuls of rice. Just eat what you can - it's highly likely you'll be able to eat more normally again in a few weeks. If your OH wants something more exciting then he can make it himself :haha: It'll only be for a few weeks - won't kill him!

Does anyone else have any ideas for meals?

I'm getting sooo bored of chicken with mash!

Have discovered bizarrly that I can tolerate fahitas (think it's the sour cream!) but we've had them 4 times this week...

Im struggling also. Im bored of eating jacket potato!! I've had cereal most nights as its bland. Chicken soup I'm sick of eating. But I can't keep anything down, so when I'm eating I know I'm going to see it again which makes me feel lousy.

Today I made myself a toasted panini with brie (pasteurised, but as it was toasted it doesn't matter anyway), halved cherry tomatoes and pesto. It was absolute heaven!

I've been living on cereal, burritos (no idea why I can digest that of all things but I can? just bland bean and cheese ones), and fruit smoothies. I haven't seen smoothies mentioned here yet? Not quite enough to be a full meal, but when I'm really feeling sick they're one of the few things I can tolerate. Hope you feel better soon :hugs:

PS is eating extra garlic really supposed to help?! Ugh...I haven't been able to STAND anything with garlic!!

The best advice I read on here once was someone who said their mw told them to close their eyes and pretend to eat a certain food and see if it feels appetizing or repulsive. I usually make my grocery lists up this way, hehe! Everyone is different so you may have real aversions to somethings that other pg people may be fine with eating.

Personally, I really like anything that is fresh: cucumbers, salads, strawberries, celery...I also seem to have a love for greasy stuff, unfortunately so...last night I made a strawberry poppyseed salad with egg rolls :haha: Smoothies are also my go to in the morning, as well as porridge, and toast with peanut butter. I also like pad thai...I replace the bean sprouts with other vegetables and because meat is an issue I use tofu. Hope that helps!

That's the trouble - everything is repulsive!! :haha:

:nope:I hate when that happens! Sounds like me yesterday....you know how you look through a cookbook hoping for inspiration and everything makes you want to  Hope it passes soon!!

the only thing i've eaten today is super thin mash.. (the box kind).. cause it digests easy and would be easy to throw up if that ends up happening. I feel so weak, my blood pressure was a bit low today too. Just feeling awful.

I found nice warm teas do well with me. Will be keeping up on this one to see what you ladies are able to keep down.
