I'm looking for a breast pump and it's been 4 years since I've used one so not too sure what's good or not. I've read some pretty good reviews on the Medela Swing Breast pump. Is it a good pump for the money? Will it last me at least a year?

And if anyone has a suggestion of a different pump that isn't too expensive!

Thanks!

<3 I have the swing! I would recommend dual if you plan on using it alot. My BF didn't last long... I still have it for the next LO. But it didn't hurt like other *cheap* models I tried and it expresses alot of milk!

Well, when I had my DD i used a hospital grade one and still only did one side at a time, so that aspect doesnt bother me too much. I think because I was so used to one side at a time, doing two at once would throw me off! Lol

Someone I know bought hers and never ended up using it at all and is selling it for a great price.

The one review i have seen that concerns me is that its hard to clean? But i read up on a few different ones, even the medela freestyle, and some of those reviews say the same. I guess that wasnt really somehing i thought about with my last.

I thought it was easy to clean
This right? https://breast-pumps.com/medela_swing.jpg I found no issues with it. But I only used it for a month before I came to terms that BF was just not going to work for Aiden :nope: Hoping this next one is a success though!

I got it when ds wouldn't latch (first 10 days) and I was pumping every 2 hrs day and night, initially with a manual pump, it works well, easy to clean. Getting a second hand one I'd buy new tubing as this can't be sterilised but the rest can.

Thanks! I am ordering some new parts online and then half of them are new with the pump as well.

Ive decided to get it after looking at a lot of different models. It seems to have decent reviews for the pricd. So im happy with that I think.

Its also still under warrarnty since it was only bought in feb. So thats a definite plus too!

I had this one but couldn't get a drop out!! I breastfed for 18 months too. You can get different sized adaptors if you struggle which may help but it didn't for me. Think it's just personal at the end of the day. I could get some out with my hand so maybe a different pump would have helped me more?? Good luck

I was wanting one of these as well it just kills me to use that much $ on them since Im not sure how long I will be pumping for. Im thinking of just asking hospital if I can rent one from them

Im not sure where you are, but at my local health clinic they rented out the pumps. I had one with my first baby for a few weeks. I then got the hand/electric medela pump when i decided i would pump too.
This time around, i know i will need a pump. I got one of the swings second hand and paid $75 for it!! Its great if you can get one second hand!
