Just thought I'd let you all know I had my beautiful boy Jack on 30th October!
Oh my god people tell you how painful childbirth is but you dont quite realise how much pain it is! I went into labour at about 1.30am Thursday, woke up needing to go loo but then had cramps on & off which started to make me think..umm this is not right! So I started to count the contractions & they were coming every 9 mins. Called the maternity triage & they told me to call back once I am 4mins apart. Had a bath about 5.30am & then they were irregular like 5,6,3 mins apart. Called triage again & they told me to come down. When I got there I think they were quite shocked to see how far I had got..I was 5cm dialated. So they admitted me. I went on gas & air then asked to use the birthing pool. I was in the pool for the majority of the time but then his head was crowning for about an hour & half so they told me to come out & lay on the bed. Soon after Jack was born at 1.32pm. It stung like a bitch! Then I had the injection to pass the placenta, which was a big relief!
A little while after I felt a bit sick probably due to the combination of gas&air & the injection, so I had some toast to feel a bit better. They took me for a shower but then I threw up in the coridor! So back to bed I went! I wanted to go home that day so after a few hours of recovering I left about 7.30pm to go home.
I didnt sleep much that night, just staring at Jack all night checking that he was ok. It is very emotional. I am trying to breast feed on demand, but as he has been sleeping all the while, I am worrying whether he has had enough milk! But I have fed him a bit more today & he is sleeping sound at the moment.
I am so glad I have just got the one baby, twins would be a handful
! But sooooooo worth it. Lots of love Penny x
