Holy crow...its been 9 week already!? I better write this down before I forget.
Mesa was due on Halloween, but the weekend before my blood pressure went insane; 170/110 and not going down. I went to the ER and they stabilized and monitored us both for a few hours then sent me home to be on bed rest all day Sunday and go in ASAP to my Dr on Monday morning. I went in first thing for an ultrasound- Mesa was nearly out of fluid and he heart rate was too "flat" for their liking. We had discussed trying to avoid induction at all cost, but when my Dr reccomended we head straight to the hospital and get started, I couldnt be more ready.
I was hooked up and Cervadil started before 11:00am; the lead nurse was insistant I would have her before midnight. I had been 80% effaced, 2cm dilated for nearly two weeks now.
The nurse was VERY WRONG. When I told my Dr what the nurse had said, he looked at me askance and said he figured it'd be evening the NEXT DAY. They started pitocin at 3am and after a couple hours of really sucky back labor, I had a shot of fentanyl and slept for a hour. Contractions really got rolling and I got my epidural around 8am. I was sobbing, just so exhausted more than anything and the back labor was miserable.
Epidural? About as awesome as a unicorn pooping rainbows, no joke. I was a NEW PERSON afterwards. I had a button I could push every 15 mins if I felt like it was starting to wear off. Anytime my legs woud get less numb you better believe I was hitting that button! I had heard way too many stories about epdiurals wearing off early and I did NOT want to be in the camp!
I labored on for several hours, trying to sleep as much as I could. It was around 4:40 ish (I think?) that afternoon that I noticed the nurses kept coming in more often, and standing at my monitoring machines much longer, and my husband was pacing quite a bit and there was a lot of whispering....Never occured to me there could be anything wrong.
I was so deliriously tired. And suddenly cold and shivering HARD. I had been sweating and continuiusly screaming for the heat to be turned down for our entire stay so far, so this was a new change. They checked me, I had 101 fever. I was given meds and checked again, and it was cimbing regardless of medicaton. Mesa's heart rate sky rocketed into 200's range and was staying there (I found this out LATER).
Dr came in, checked me, informed me I was only an 8 still but he was going to MAKE me a 10 I had to get this baby out NOW. It still may have to go c section, but if I could push hard enough it'd be faster and he'd let me try.
There is NOTHING so motivating as to hear your baby needs you, she needs out, and it needs to be NOW.
Thank the Lord for my epidural. I got her out in 10 minutes of pushing. Tore top and bottom and needed stitches, but was minor. Mesa had trouble breathing and her color was not good, but after a lot of suctioning they lay (read, THREW) her on me and said "She needs you momma, then she has to go, her color and breathing arent good."
I held her in completely shock, just staring at this little face....The nurse commented her color was coming around, they let me keep her on me and kept checking her. Within ten minutes she was rooting, and the nurse helped me latch her.
After about a half hour they took her and she didnt come back for a long time. The pediatrician came to me that night and said her white blood cells were disastrously high and they didnt know why.
They ended up keeping her for three additonal days giving IV anitbiotics. They never diagnosed an infection and tell me to this day they still dont know what caused it or my fever in labor.
My girl is FIERCE, she is STRONG, and she has an she definiely knows what she wants! By far the best thing I have ever done with my life.![Cloud 9 :cloud9: :cloud9:](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/cloud9.gif)
