Messy eater!

Hi Ladies

My 4 week old boy is such a messy eater so would be grateful for some advice if anyone can help. Currently using Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature bottles with the no 1 teat (the slowest) and most of the time he seems to be gulping away really fast and sprays milk all over, down his chin etc. and soaks a bib and the top of his clothes right through. Occasionally he slows down and isn't quite so messy but not that often. Figure he's just a hungry boy!

I had him checked for tongue tie today and he has it a tiny bit, but not enough for them to do anything about as he can poke his tongue out and lift it to the roof of his mouth. It was suggested I use a medium teat but I figured if the milk comes out the bottle faster surely he will make more of a mess.

Would appreciate any advice especially if you have been through this too. Be good to hear what worked for you before I go buying different teats etc. Thanks!

My lo used to do this hun they grow out of it it what i was told n he did x

my lo was terrible for that and i have to fold a muslin and put it under his chin - he was on avent and is now on dr browns and its loads better it still comes out but compared to before its nothing

My little boy does that. So i fold a muslin under his chin and stop feeding every so often to wipe his mouth

My LO was like this with the size 1 teats but at 8 weeks old. When I switched to size 2 he actually made much less mess!!!

Thanks for the advice, reassuring to hear he will probably grow out of it. Tried a size 2 teat yesterday and he seems to make less mess, so think I may have cracked this one!
