Hi ladies,

Been to see the Fertility Consultant today - he's upped my Metformin from 500mg x 3 a day, to 850mg x 2 a day, and he's now put me on 100mg of Clomid once my next cycle starts

Has anyone else been put on Metformin and Clomid and had success on it? Anyone had any bad side effects on it? Just want a bit of reassurance that I'm not just going to start rattling on these tablets and something positive is going to happen on it!!

After 8 years of trying I don't know if I'm clutching at straws to find a miracle cure, but if anyone can give me any advice I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks

Love and hugs

Shelly xxxx

As I said on msn :happydance: :wohoo: :yipee:  IM ABSOLUTELY THRILLED FOR YOU SWEETIE am so pleased you got a good consultant and they are doing something to help you and I really think it will help you hunnie what if you dont need another cycle you may never need the clomid remember october baby you said I will be holding you to that  sending you loads of :hugs: and love sweetie this is going to work I know it xx

Have you taken Clomid before? I found that I had horrible side effects (headaches, dizzy, nausea) for 3-4 hours after taking it. So, I started taking it at night so I could sleep through the side effects and it was amazing! I experienced NO side effects.

It's success will depend on what conditions you have. Why is he giving you Metformin? Do you have PCOS? - I am on 500mgs 3 times daily too. To be honest with you the Met has more side effects than the Clomid. Although the C does have some. Mainly hot flushes and perhaps a little nausea. But Met can give you a bit of Diaroeha (sp?) and nausea, aswell as stomach cramps and loss of appetite (which doesn't help because you need to take it with food!)

I did have success on Clomid - but unfortunately I m/c also.

Has your Dr done any other tests? Or is the medication a first attempt?

Hi hun,

Sorry, should have given you a bit of background really ... I have recently (within the last three months) been diagnosed with mild PCOS. I did suffer with side effects for the first few weeks of metformin but that seems to have died dwn now.

I did try clomid on it's own about 3 or 4 years ago, but that didn't work. It's only recently now since I've been diagnosed with the PCOS that they've decided to try this medication. DH and I left TTC with fertility treatment for a year to TTC naturally, mainly because it was getting too much for us ...

I just hope the metformin and Clomid together can have a more positive result for us - so sorry to hear about your m/c hun

Love

Ah ok, Thanks for that Shelly.

Well with the PCOS, Met is suppose to help, as it regulates your insulin levels in the body - which apparently helps the body to stop damaging the egg when it's released. I am taking both this cycle - I stopped Met as it made me feel so awful before - but this cycle I'm sticking to it, and taking both Met and Clomid.

Lots of luck on your journey - sounds like it's been a long one, hopefully you'll get a result soon.

Vici, you should let Ney ney know about your :bfp: so that she can add you to the LTTTC BFP threat!

Aww, that's wonderful hun, thank you so much for sharing your positive news with me ... gives me hope that I might just get my :bfp: this year ...

All I can do is take the tablets, do the :sex::bunny::spermy: and then hope that I get blessed too ...

Love

Too true, i never thought it would happen for me, and the month i got my BFP, i stopped taking my temp, didn't count my DPO, just concentrated on my test date, BD'd every day from CD12 - CD16 and didn't even put a cushion under my bum, lol!! Miracles can happen girls :)
