Hi all

I have been on metformin for a week and I have started having really bad stomach cramps today (like really bad period pains). I am not sure whether I should expect this and it actually means the Metformin is working eg I am ovulating and perhaps :witch: is on her way after 80 odd days!!

For those of you who have been on Metformin is this normal?

Kat, yes this is very common so stick with it and your body will get used to the drug and should calm down in weeks 2 and 3.

Sarah

As Honey Wright said. It is common and your body will take a little while to get used to it.

For the first 6 weeks on Met I felt so ill, but stick with it benefits far outweigh.

I had an awful taste that used to make me want to be sick perm, bad stomache etc.

It does get better.

Great guys thanks so much for your help! It feels very uncomfortable at the minute and I don't feel great being in work. I am hoping it does get better so I can keep on with it!

Yeah unfortunately Met does come with it's range of side effects. But as the girls stated it does calm down if you stick to it. Lots of luck.

Yea wen i was on metaphormin i was in agony, i couldnt continue the medication :(

Was normal for me too... but after the first few weeks all was good...
Good luck!

I am in my first week of it to and have the cramps and the constant need for the loo... god who would want to be a woman TTC!!

I was on Metformin for about a year and felt so ill at the start but I did get used to it. It helped me lose over two stone and....... I stopped taking the pill in Septamber '08 and am now almost 8 weeks preggers!

I had previously been told there was no way I would be able to conceive without assistance yet we have! The doc had a tear in her eye as I was the 1st person she had prescribed Metformin to as it's off licence. She was sure it's helped up so stick with ot if you can!
