As for spellings, it depends how you'd want it pronounced because to me
Haylen = hay-lynn (similar to Hayden) whereas Halyn = Hal-in

Either sound nice to me, but I do think changing the spelling changes the pronunciation as well.

The pronunciation remains the same regardless of spelling for me. I think I prefer Halyn. Haylen is really close to Hayley.

I'm not great at matching mns to first names for someone else, but I'll second wannabemomy37's suggestions of Naomi and Michelle.

I personally like the spelling of Haylen better, but Halyn is also cute. I would be worried that too many people would mis-pronounce her name as Hah-lyn if it was spelled the second way. But then again, maybe nobody would pronounce it that way.

I would pair it with a fem name, since it's kind of a "unisex" first name.

I would pronounce Haylen as "hay-len" and Halyn as "hal-in"
