Hi everyone,

I have been off work for the past week as not only am I feeling constantly sick all day but I have had 3 migraines in the past 5 days. I have had migraines for years but they have only been once every 1-2 months at most. I went to the doctor yesterday and she gave me some anti sickness meds (Cyclizine) and some Co-Codamol for the migraines. I have heard so many different stories about taking Co-Codamol but thought seeing as though it is made up of paracetamol and my doctor has prescribed it knowing I am pregnant it should be ok. I have taken some cyclizine (which seems to be working!) and luckily have not yet had to take any pain killers as I have been feeling ok today. I would usually just strong painkillers when I get a migraine but as I cant do that and paracetamol does nothing for me when I get a migraine I just wanted opinions on whether Co-Codamol is actually ok?

I have been so fed up this past week and as anyone who gets migraines knows they just leave you feeling as though you have just been hit by a truck so add the ms on top and the fact no painkillers that I am actually allowed to take do anything and you get one miserable lady who pretty much had a crying meltdown when I woke up yesterday with the beginnings of another migraine

Any advice?

I get them too, but they are allergy induced. If I don't take Benedryl and a painkiller at the onset, I will be puking and absolutely miserable within an hour. I've had three since I've been pregnant which is A LOT for me. I don't usually get them that often. I am really concerned about them and how to treat them. I don't want to be taking Tylenol all the time while pregnant. I really don't even want to take Benedryl - although I was told it's totally fine. Sorry I don't have any answers, but I can empathize!

So sorry hun! I really do feel for you. I have gotten migraines my entire life, normally about once every 2-3 months. Since I've been pregnant I've had migraines MUCH more frequently. In the 12 weeks I've been pregnant I've had 9 migraines, not fun. The only thing my doctor approved for me to take is extra strength Tylenol (acetaminophen, equivalent to paracetamol across the pond). It doesn't help with my migraines so I've had to just drag my butt into bed and endure it. I keep telling myself, it's worth it in the long run if I have a healthy baby at the end to show for it.

I am in the same position, I usually suffer from migraines a few times a year but have had 6 since getting pregnant (I'm 10 weeks), I actually had two attacks yesterday which terrified me! I get aura which causes me disturbed vision and it makes me utterly miserable. this coupled with hyperemesis g is ruining my life, the dr has said that I can only take paracetemol!

Hi,
I totally sympathise. I've had a few migraines in the last couple of weeks. I've got one today and have been throwing up all day too. Used to take Zolmitriptan which I got on prescription from the doc and they zapped my migraines straight away. Well, don't even bother taking paracetamol as they're about as much use as a chocolate fireguard!
I've read that co-codamol is ok to take, but I think it would make me feel sick.
Give it a shot?....
