mirena removal/ progesterone cream success

bGully, I've had mine removed 2 years ago and have estrogen dominance. I'm not sure if it's because of the progesterone in the IUD but I use progesterone cream for PMS day 21-28 and then Vitex to help balance my hormones from CD1-O as per my naturopath doctor. This has really helped, in fact my cycle got shorter in Sept and I got pregnant for the first time in 15 months. I had always been on it but she upped my dose in Aug/Sept and bam, BFP! I was also using softcups which I believe helped too.

I think there is something to the Mirena/progesterone and Accutane drying up the body's ability to be fertile. I've taken accutane twice and was diagnosed this year with premature ovarian failure. The u/s only had 1 antral follie left when I should have between 9-30 for my age. I think the supplements have helped though because on my u/s after my m/c in Oct there are now 4 working antral follies. I'm taking lots of antioxidants and DHEA too. The FC gave me prometrium suppositories and has ordered me to take baby aspirin if i get preggers again. IVF coming in March if nothing happens before then.

Thank you so much for this. I knew I couldn't be the only one.

Day one of Progesterone Cream. Does anyone know how long it takes to take effect?

Please send your prayers and baby dust my way.

:dust:

im not sure how long it takes but for my condition i saw [small] breast growth in about a month or so. (breast need progesterone to grow). so i would assume that but it could get into the bloodstream faster than having to get in the bloodstream and grow breast. my point is i wouldnt expect it to take longer than that and sense its a step less, maybe even less time? hope im making sense.

Haha, well if you are pregnant they probably would anyways :haha:
If they are too much for you i will gladly accept some donor boobs  JK

When I take it on day 21-28, I don't really feel anything different except for less of a sore back, less sore bbs and less crappy during AF.

at least a year now. When I got my bfp in sept I kept on it all the way through. with the next one the fs gave me a much stronger progesterone.

So are you pregnant now? If so how long did it take?

Thank you.

I'm not preggers now, just had an appt with the fc last week and they forced an AF using progesterone. I m/c'd in Oct and still haven't had af, was getting pissed off about not being able to try. I LOVE my fertility specialist, she gets me going and gives me what I want. They ordered a clotting test to see if I have clotting issues. At least by the time we do Ivf we'll both have had the full work ups done on us and 1 m/c to boot. They say the statistics are that if you m/c once you're more than 83% likely to conceive next time. I'm COUNTING on that statistic being true.

So to give me my cycle back she gave me 200mg Prometrium progesterone pills and AF came within 2 days. They gave me a second prescription for suppository progesterone (200mg Prometrium) and told me to use it if I get pregnant. I have 2 cycles before IVf to try naturally. I think at my age there are going to be some rotten eggs in there, hopefully the next egg that's successfully inseminated is healthy. I'm using lots of antioxidants, eating well and omega 3/6 vit e oils. OH is having folic acid (1000mg) day as lack of folates can contribute to m/c too https://www.reuters.com/article/2008/03/19/us-nutrition-sperm-idUSN1960164920080319?feedType=RSS&feedName=healthNews&pageNumber=1&virtualBrandChannel=0

Hi, I am new to the board, so please be gentle :)

I had a copper (non-hormonal IUD) removed in april of 2012 and ever since then I've had symptoms of low progesterone (I actually think it started before I removed it, but at the time I thought I had copper toxicity since many symptoms are similar). I started using natural progesterone cream on days 13-26 of my cycle and it helped with mood swings a bit, but doesn't seem to help with this weird spotting I have on day 8 (I have 26-day cycles, my period usually ends on day 5, then I have no blood, then 1-day spotting on day 8, ovulation on day 13 and then period on day 26).

I don't know if this is ovulation spotting - since it happens 5 days before ovulation!

I would be very interested in hearing how others have treated it.

Have you tried using Vitex to balance you hormones or shortening the length of days you're using progesterone? I know that as we age we don't produce as much progesterone naturally, just like men loose their ability to produce testosterone. I've only ever taken Progesterone for 7-8 days and my cycle is 32-34 days long. It seems you have a 26 day cycle and use it for 14 days, maybe your cycle needs to get longer? I don't know.

My thyroid has slowed down too making all of my adrenal hormones go to minimum levels (I'm 37). Since I've been using Vitex I don't have as long cycles (it can lengthen/shorten depending on what's out of whack) and since I've been on DHEA I've never slept better. I don't know what's going to work for you, I've never spotted either but play around with different things and you might find a better balance. Try halfing the length of time you use progesterone and take vitex from CD1-O, see if that helps. GL!

Thank you so much for such a quick reply, 2have4kids!

I am new to all this "playing around" since I've never had any issues until after my 3rd child was born. I am turning 31 in a couple of months, so I don't think this is perimenapause...I am thinking it had to do with Paraguard IUD I had, but not sure. What is Vitex?

Also, I am not actively TTC, I want to balance all my hormones first and make sure I am feeling up to raising another kid, iykwim...

You're welcome for the quick reply, just biding my time at work before the holidays next week. I love the chats with the ladies here, and can't wait for the holidays!!!!!

Holy hannah! It's like reading about myself on this thread! I had my Mirena removed a little over a year ago and have low progesterone/estrogen dominance. I can't say I blame it ALL on the Mirena, as my mother had the same thing (I'm the only living biological child of 10 - all lost due to mc). Finally bringing in proof that I'm not a crazy webMDing-self-diagnosing, former OB/GYN nurse to my doctor through documented symptoms and family history, I'm getting somewhere.

I'm on CD4 right now, starting natural progesterone cream (with no phytoestrogens) as soon as I O. I'm hoping it helps get a sticky bean as well as takes the edge off of AF (if she comes), and helps these pesky 10-15 lbs that seem to have taken up residence on my hips and thighs. Though, if I just get the sticky bean, I'll be more than thrilled! :winkwink:

I am only 8dpo and like a 6 days away. That's really early. It looks like brown boogers lol tmi. I wonder if it could be implantation?
