Hi! I had my second sono today and i am so frustrated. I had my sono 1st time at 15 weeks and was told by a sonographer that I was having a boy 100% (eventhough i asked her if it was a little too early to say but she reassured me that if it is there you can see it). Today at 22 weeks and 5 days, I had my secong sono and the same tech told me i was having a 100% girl and was sooooooooooooooo surprised she told me otherwise. I am so angry and frustrated.

oh that technician shouldnt have told you at 15 weeks, thats supppper early :( Sorry you were put through that, must have been a shock. Congrats on your little girl!

I agree with Blah, its still very 50/50 at 15 weeks.
But congrats on your pink bump.
Cant believe it was the same sono!!!

No sonographer should tell you a definite sex before 18-19 weeks at least. Congrats on your baby girl :)

yep. Now I have 2 sono pics 1 says it a boy, the 2nd one says it a girl!!!

did you see the hamburger for sure in the second one?
at least it will be something to laugh about with her (or him?) down the road when looking back at the photos.
congrats on team pink. (im partial)

15 weeks is way too early!
congrats on your little girl :pink:

sonographers (on the nhs atleast) are never allowed to say they know the sex 100% anyway... at 15 weeks she should never have remotely said it!!
congrats on the pink bump tho xx

Really? Ours did. well, 99.9% she said.

ohhhhhh no!! Would you girls say 16 weeks is too early for gender scan too? I had one with babybond and was told def boy, but my midwife last week says the heartbeat pattern makes it more likely i am having a girl, and at 16 weeks bits can just be swollen, so looks like a boy. I will be having a huge ebay clearout if this scan is wrong!

Congratulations on your little girl x

my sisters best friend is training as a sonographer... they are told that they can never say its 100% because annoyed parents-to-be have attempted to sue the nhs in the past when sonographers have got it wrong!
so they can say 99.9% (mine said 99%!)... but can't say 100% just in case!!

haha I getcha!! She really worried my OH when she said 99.9% certain, in case she was wrong, he almost dragged me out of Mothercare in tears when I went on a blue shopping spree lol..

i know a few sonographers and the reason they can't say 100% is because they can't tell 100%. simples!

no matter how far along you are, they can make mistakes, and whilst saying they're 100% sure does leave them vulnerable to being sued, that's not the reason they're not supposed to say it. it's rare to be wrong at 20 weeks, but it happens - so hang on to your receipts girls!!!

I had a gender scan at 16 weeks and was told we were having a boy, when I had my 20 weeks scan we were told 95% girl. We now have a beautiful daughter.

Mistakes happen and it is really difficult to tell so early on.

Congratulations on your baby girl :flower:

my cousin was told at 16 weeks a boy she gave birth to a molly so they can make mistakes but they are rare after 20 weeks thats why i waited till 21 weeks mines def a little boy his jewels were very clearly visable and being able to see what the sonographer sees helps loads. she pointed out his balls there was no mistaking them!!!

I had a gender scan at 15 & 2 and then again at 17 & 2. The three lines were very clear.

When I had my 20wk scan at 20 & 2, the three lines were very distinct!

I am positive we're having a girl!

I was told at 18 weeks (private scan) that i was having a Girl, have a pic of the three lines to show me that and everything..my OH didnt believe it and we went to a different place and got scanned, to be told it was a Boy..never quite believed it 100% until he was born and i could see for myself lol..so i now also have a pic of his 'girl' bits and a pic of his Boy bits lol..congratulations on your Daughter though..xx

We were told girl at 16 weeks and had a girl. We checked again at 20 weeks to be certain, but I trusted our sonographer.

ooo wow what a frustrating experience for you, I had private Gender scan at 16 weeks couldnt see 3 lines and had something there so told me he was certain boy i have a niggling feeling baby is a girl so i hope he is right as i have bought tonnes of blue xxx

:hugs: how shocking for you hunnie. I never understand why some sonos say im 110% sure etc because there never IS definate. When my sono did my gender guess for my first baby before i miscarried she based it on nub theory and told me it was only 60 40 and there was always a chance it would change

congrats on team :pink: though!x
