Hello everyone, I'm still pregnant but I'll probably be joining you soon.

I'm on medication that means I can't breastfeed fully - but I might be able to do something like breastfeed at night when my meds levels are low, and bottle feed in the day.

Has anyone done this? My main worry is that my boobs will get confused and I'll get mastitis... does anyone have any experience?

i'm not 100% sure but I'm thinking you will have very uncomfy full breasts all day unless you express the milk and throw it away. Also baby may get so used to being able to get milk out of a bottle quicker and not want to feed from the breast.

I found this while waiting for my milk to come in we gave some supplementary formula feeds, and this made Mirren not want to bf after that, she just got frustrated that it didn't come out as quick as the bottle, and wouldn't latch.

Ask your mw about it, some hospitals have a specialist person who helps with establishing feeding and they may be able to advise you on your situation.

good luck

At first i was breast and bottle feeding (as she needed top ups) Alyssa was fine and adjusted to both. But they do say that some babies will only get used to one. If thats the case you could always express your milk into a bottle ? x

your boobs are quite clever and will only produce as much as you need hun, it may take a wee while for them to work it out but eventually they should settle down
my step dd is still feeding her youngest, who has just turned 3, but only at night and has no problems at all

My wife breast feeds about 75% of the time as she does not produce enough to keep lilly happy. She loves both
