Hello, my daughter has been a fabulous feeder right from day 3 (breast milk supply was rubbish so midwife advised formula aged 3 days) and has been on Aptamil 1 from the start. She began drinking around 8 6oz bottles per day and throwing most of it up because she was too full, the HV advised small amounts of baby rice when she was 17 weeks old and we're now on to 3 meals a day and she has been doing really well. The past fortnight or so she's been really constipated. Not to the point where she's screaming in pain, she seems pretty oblivious to it actually, but after all the straining I find what looks like a little pebble in her nappy - not good. I have tried everything - boilt cooled water, prune puree, the juice from an orange in water, prune juice, bicycle legs, warm bath, belly massage - you name it! The doc gave us lactulose but even that doesn't work. I read on the box of Aptamil comfort that it's for constipation but as it's so thick (I'm using TT Closer to nature bottles with variflow teats) she's getting her hair off with how slow it's coming out and getting herself all worked up. I was wondering if I could mix Aptamil 1 and comfort in the same bottle to make it thin enough for her to drink, yet still getting some Comfort milk too. She drinks 6oz bottles, so I was thinking maybe 3 scoops Aptamil 1 and 3 scoops Comfort. Any advice is appreciated :)

Hi bumble :)

My son has had loads of problems with his milk .. Lucas Was breast fed for 2 months and went on to aptamil 1 ... He wouldn't stop screaming etc and we found out he had a problem with lactose . So he went on to aptamil comfort milk for colic/ constipation as it's got 40% less lactose combined with colic drops. Which was great for him as he wouldn't drink the Lf milk but then we had the problem with it being out of stock!! So we had to buy another make and started adding it to the remaining aptamil comfort we had left (2 part other make - 4 parts aptamil comfort) and he prefers it!

We've had no side effects of using two different milks together ... I don't no what the health visitor would of said tho? But Lucas gets constipated and the comfort milk worked a treat for us ... We did go back just to using the comfort milk but he won't drink it cos it's too thick so were stuck with thinning it down with the other make but if he's happy then I'm happy :) sorry for the long story x

Forgot to say we used a teat for thicker milk but he still didn't like it ... And it took a couple of days to see a difference with his poos but within the first week of using comfort milk he was regular and he sttn for the first time!!!
