I just thought I would post here for some reassurance since all of you ladies are so wonderful at making everyone feel better.

I've been experiencing a HORRID yeast infection for the past 2 days. I haven't had one of these for like 10 years, and I know it is very common in pregnant women. Anyways. My doctor has been gone for the later half of this week so I haven't been able to get a hold of her and for those of you who have experienced yeast infections, you know how awful they are. I did some brief research and discovered that monistat is safe to use while pregnant. So I got the one day treatment and used it right away.

However, after researching a little more, I disovered that the 7 day treatment is the one I should be using. And also that I shouldn't have inserted it all the way into my vagina . Well darn. I took the one day, and I put it up all the way. Did I just put my baby at risk?

Anyone else use the one day in the first trimester? Anyone else use monistat for a yeast infection while pregnant? I hope I didn't hurt my baby.

Please reply. Thanks ladies! This is the most supportive message board I've ever seen. :hugs:

I'm sorry, I really don't know. When I had one, my OB told me to buy Monistat and just apply it externally but not to put it inside. I would call your doc to ask. They are very hardy little things, so I would try not to worry.

My doc list's the 3 day treatment as the only safe treatment. Hope you get rid of that beast!

Cervix is closed and nothing can permeate the uterus you are fine. My Doc rec Monistat for yeast infections while pregnant and never specified 3-7 or 1 day. No worries you are fine!!!

Before I was pregnant I used the one day when I thought I had a yeast infection but actually had BV (which is from a similar cause as a yeast infection, the bad bacteria grows because the good stuff is gone. The one day really messed me up for a while. I recommend three day at the max.

I had one right after I found out I was pregnant. I called my midwife's office and they said to use the 7 day monistat. I hated it-- it burned and was really uncomfortable, but it did do the job. Warning: it irritated my cervix and I had some light brown spotting for the whole week I used it. Scared the piss out of me, but baby is doing fine now. Apparently the one or three day versions aren't enough to knock out a pregnant yeast infection-- they are very stubborn!

Honey, have no fear, I'm in EXACTLY the same boat as you currently. With the fluctuations in our hormonal levels, some of us are very prone to yeast infections, and it may be an unwelcome reoccurrence throughout our entire pregnancies.

I called my OB/gyn office the other day, scared to death of using medication for it, and they told me that Monistat is their #1 recommendation. I'm using the 7 day cream, only insert the applicator about 1/2 way, and I'm on day 4. I feel SO much better. It is truly better to fight the infection, than to let it get worse, which presents a different slew of health risks to you and the baby.

It's a safe option...my OB/gyn will NOT prescribe Diflucan (the oral pill), as that is dangerous during pregnancy. Monistat 7 is fine, so have no fear.
