Hi,

I took the morning after pill this morning after a mishap last night!

I've been reading up on it and it is designed to stop ovulation.

I've ttc'd enough times to know that the egg can survive up to 5 days.

So what if I ovulated say 2 days ago? That would render the morning after pill useless wouldn't it?

Effectively it only works for 3/4 of a monthly cycle? No?

I have no idea when I ovulated, but worried it hasn't worked :/

You should take it 72 hours or less from the time you had intercourse in order for it to work.

Yes, I took it 12 hours after.

My question is though, whether it is useless if I ovulated say 2 days ago?

Well if you've ovulated two days ago you would be two DPO so you're infertile really but anything could happen I guess.

Oh, I thought the egg could survive for up to 5 days?

When I took the pill it started a period. I bled for 7 days..maybe more. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Is it the sperm that lives for 5 days? Am I getting mixed up? X

Yea, sperm can live for as long as 5 days. But the pill does something with your hormones (im not sure exactly what) so you dont conceive. Have you not started bleeding yet? Ive taken it twice, and both times I bled pretty soon after...

The egg only lasts for 12 hours so I've read. Sperm can live up to 7 days.

Thanks Cathinoo & Holliems.

I was getting confused between longevity of egg & sperm!

I haven't started bleeding yet, took it yesterday morning.

Feeling crampy stuff and boob twinges. Will wait it out

X
