Mother and Baby Spaces in Car Parks ?

I think any mum that would challenge a heavily pregnant woman for using one of those spaces would have to be a very confrontational and cynical person to begrudge them that. You never know what health reason that woman might have. My bump isn't massive yet, but even I struggle to get in and out when other drivers park up really close. Usually my OH drops me off and then parks the car and after shopping picks me up, but I can understand others aren't that lucky and would have a genuine need for those spaces.

I think both pregnant women and women with children should be allowed to use both Pregnant spaces and Mother and Baby spaces.
Both are there for the same reason - more room and closer to the shop, which both need.
I would rather have a pregnant lady in a Mother and Baby space than someone who isn't pregnant, disabled, has a child etc.etc.

I wasn't suggesting that all pregnant women should get one automatically, and SPD, although caused by pregnancy still causes disabilities. I know of women who are constantly or occasionally have to use wheelchairs for it while pregnancy because of it. Many use crutches because of it, so you would claim that your mother, who is also on sticks, has more right to use a space near to a store for people suffering from mobility problems has more right than someone who is also suffering from immobility, but just because their's may be temporary and triggered by pregnancy they have no right to use it!?!?

i was not for one second suggesting my mum has more right to the space than a pregnant woman on crutches i was responding to certain comments about using the spaces due to finding it difficult to get in and out of spaces due to having a big bump, if i was having a go at something u had said i'd of quoted you in my response....i find it really annoying that you cant even write a comment on this forum anymore without all this hassle, everyone else has written their opinions on this i was merely writing my response, as someone who IS pregnant myself and does find it difficult getting in and out of my car, when i am taking my mum out the car to get to asda etc and she has to use me, being nearly 7 months pregnant, as support yes it would seriously annoy me if the pregnant women in question was using the space ONLY because her bump was big, like many many other women have commented on this thread there are ways around it without having to use a disabled space...and just to add i actually did state in my reply that i cant comment on it if the woman had SPD as i am fortunate enough to not suffer from that....last post ill write on this subject fed up of feeling i cant comment on something without it being picked up on...

Sorry to go against the grain here and this is only because these bloody spaces are one of my gripes now. So much so that I do tell people off who are using them when they are not allowed!!

I did use them when I was pregnant but now I struggle to get the boys out of the car soooooo much now that I would be annoyed if a pregnant woman used the last space and I was left struggling. However I don't see any harm in pregnant woman using them if that makes any sense!!

I also dont mean to cause offence, but noticed you said you did use them when you were heavily pregnant ...................... So thats ok :)

BUT now your not you would challenge someone who is heavily pregnant who uses them cause you struggle to get your children in and out of the car?!

So what you think others didnt struggle when you were using them? and did anyone challenge You?

Sorry but this is one of my gripes, whats good for the goose is good for the gander imo

xx

How I read it was she did it when she was pregnant but now she has had to struggle with the children and get them out of teh car she wouldnt do it again if she became pregnant because she knows how hard it is
xx

Yeah thats exactly what I meant. Now I realise how difficult and dangerous it is to get two small kids (one running around with no idea of road safety yet!) into the pushchair or trolley however I do have total sympathy with pregnant woman getting in and out of the stupid sized spaces. More M&C spaces in these places would def be the solution.

If you are really genuinley struggling then i dont think its fair to begrudge someone the help, im mean people really struggling, not just "ohhh im pregnant, even breathing is a struggle" hyponcondhriacs

I once parked in one when heavily pregnant because i had one of those massive bulk boxes of bold 2 in 1 which i couldnt carry properly, so i sneakily ate a lion bar on the way back to the car with the other hand  ... naughty Holly i know, but hey, at least im honest and hold my hands up!!

a parking spot is a parking spot. get dropped at the door, and be done with it, the end. end of discussion. everyone love eachother again. :)
