We go away to butlins on monday. Its a four hour drive and lo has pretty much outgrown his carseat so we went to mothercare last week to get a new one and after choosing and paying for one they had to order it and said we would get it this week. Well we have heard nothing so oh just rang and they said they sold too many and we cant have one WTF?!!! So now we have to go through the whole thing again, choose another and if we have to order again it wont be here in time for monday so we will have to travel in his old car seat which he isnt comfortable in for more than an hour so 4 hours are going to be hell! I wouldnt have minded if they had rung and told us they had sold out but to just ignore the matter is ridiculous! I am so frustrated they are going to get such an earful!!!

Thats awful. mothercare dont get the best customer care right ups tbh. what kind of car seat was it you were getting? x

Britax eclipse 123. We are trying to find it elsewhere but not sure we can get it at that price again and in time for holiday.

Our recommendation is Britax first class + from Kiddicare, they deliver realllly quickly!

do you mean the evolva? John lewis and halfords seem to have it (although ive read that 123's arent very good for littler babies as although it states they are fine for that age they dont get very good reviews.)

Anyway i digress!....i ordered a car seat from halfords on friday and it was delivered on monday so you might be ok. x

If it's on Kiddicare I would definatly order from them. They are great, fast and very helpful. I ordered a cot from mothercare, they delivered a car seat in a monster of a box and couldn't collect it for 4 days. It filled my kitchen, I had to lug it back and forth everytime I went I. My fridge or washing machine. I was 8 months pregnant and very pissed off. I had to take a day off and sit in all day for them first to drop off my cot and then come back for the seat when there was room in their van. I got no apology. They didn't seem bothered and acted like it was my fault. I wasn't in when they delivered it so a neighbour accepted it, it's not like I accepted something that was clearly wrong. I won't be ordering from them again.

Mothercare are the worst company i have ever dealt with when to comes to ordering and deliveries!! They made me SO angry when i was heavily pregnant and waiting for pram and furniture. Just dreadful!! Grrrr. Makes me angry just thinking about it!!!

Have you looked in toys r us? We got a graco 1 2 3 from there and it wasn't too pricy. They had it in stock, so we could take it home the same day.

Personally I would ask for my money back and go elsewhere. I just bought a maxicosi carseat from there and it took 4 days for them just to process the order, I was going to cancel it if they took much longer. I went in there at 6 month's pregnant and they didn't have the pram I wanted in stock, they wanted me to order still even though they couldn't tell me whether or not it be available by my due date :haha:  hmm... no! I understand they are one of the most popular shops though, especially for first time mums. They run out of stock of popular items quite often.

I hope it doesn't ruin your holiday!

I was going to suggest kiddicare as well. I had very quick delivery from them.

Oh and we're off to butlins in a weeks time, which one are you going to?

And Kiddicare will price match (they used to do 25% of the difference too, not sure if that's still going. So if it's £4 cheaper elsewhere, they'll knock £5 off their price)

Another massive vote for kiddicare, I ordered a highchair and sun shade tent thing one evening and it arrived the next day. I don't rate mothercare much, particularly the store (against online, but that still has flaws) they missed out on big sellers with me too. I had a voucher to spend and decided to put it towards medela swing (so quite a substantial purchase) but not in stock in store. At the same date I wanted to pick up some medela nipple shields. Only stocked 'large' which wouldn't suit. Just stupid stuff like that which loses sales to amazon!! I am a 99% online shopper for these types of annoyance! The MC website can be a pain as it still shows items that are 'sold out' so an outfit for example catches your eye, you open it up to read about it and add to basket and it says sold out. Point of displaying on website??! Haha petty, but i kinda expect more from such a big name.

Off topic but I went to mothercare last week to try and exchange a gift that was too small for LO, they told me no exchanges or refunds now without a receipt!! X

Mothercare are a nightmare!! Defo try kiddicare they are great!! What I would suggest though is write a complaint on mothercares Facebook wall!! They hate it and they offer you gift vouchers as an apologie!! Don't get your seat their but might be worth it for something smaller in store :)

Mothercare in Australia didn't have too many different brands, they mainly stocked their own brand. I ordered my pram from them and it was faster than I expected! They said it would take 2 months due to back orders but it took 1 week lol! But mothercare went into liquidation here and have closed down.
