movement monitor vs video monitor

We have the BT 150 monitor and it is fab.

It is not a video or movement one though....:flower:

movement  for me, knowing my baby is breathing is more important than being able to just see a baby, because just because you can see it, doesnt mean it is breathing. Both would be good  lol. Fortunately I get loaned one from the hospital which attaches to babys tummy xx

i did think about the movement one, but not sure if its a step too far for me. If baby is just a heavy sleeper and doesn't move much wouldnt it casue unnecessary worry? Other than that, a sound monitor and OH can set up a webcam as he's a computer wizz lol x

Not really no, the monitors are so sensetive it picks up even minute movement and breaths. For me it definately eases the worry, I'd be a wreck without one, it gives me a little peace of mind

Yeah the movement monitor sounds an alarm if the baby stops breathing for 20 seconds, not if it stops moving generally. Its invaluable!

Movement all the way used angel sounds with my son and it went off he had forgot to breath the most terrified i ever have been in my whole life!! Will be using it again for this one.. However angelcare have just brought out a movement and video monitor however its liek £200 ouch!

Movement monitor here, dont see point of the video ones tbh imo waste of money. I had just sound monitors on DS1&2 and found them great but this time i got the TT reassurance 8 monitor, its sound and movement it is the same as Angel Care one which i was planning on buying but them got the TT one BNIB for €5 so went with that instead.

The Angelcare movement one is great and well worth the price for the peace of mind thar it offers. The Tommee Tippee movement one is cheaper but I found it rubbish and returned it to them. You can't watch the video while ur sleeping but the movement sensor is always looking after your baby whether ur awake or asleep. In my mind the movement monitor is a clear winner but there are so many different types of monitor out there you have to decide what is important to you. I can't speak to my daughter through the monitor, play her music or put on a lightshow for her (some monitor can do this) but on the odd occasion that my LO has wriggled off the sensor pad and the alarm has sounded I've been out of bed like a shot and have found a lot of comfort in it x

i had the bt150 for Nate and could hear him breathing through it so it had the same benifit as a movment monitor to me lol but we sold it after 4 months caus we felt safe enough without it and didnt get another for EJ he slept near me in the day and co-slept with us at night so no point in it for us and this baby will be the same , in the same room as me in the day and right next to me in the night

I dont mean to sound rude but you cant listen to your baby breathing when you are asleep. If that were the case, people woudnt wake up to find their babys dead. My baby was right next to my bed when she died.

I had both with DS. The only thing I found with the sensor pad was that when we put him into his cot from the moses basket, the mattress must have been too thick to pick up on every breath cos the alarm was sounding all the time. I will use it again though cos it gives great peace of mind.

Which make was it Tia? Thats what happened with my Tommee Tippee one - hence why I returned it to them. I was flying out of bed 3/4 times every night!! No probs with the Angelcare one though

I've heard of a couple people saying that the movement monitor goes off frequently - false alarms. I would love to have both but so expensive! I might register for both or look for one second-hand...

I think it was the Tommee Tippee one. Wish I had swapped it for something else. It doesn't half wake you up though!!

i got the Angelcare movement and video one. Couldn't make up my mond about which one to get. I used Angelcare with my DD and it was great, but i gave it to someone else last year, so i had to get a new one. I'm so glad they made a monitor with both movement detector and video!:happydance:

we've got the movement monitor and i;ve found its given me huge peace of mind. i don't understand it when people say to me that it would make them more paranoid to have a movement monitor. quite the opposite for me. have had a few false alarms when LO has been right up one end of the cot but these have been far and few between

Good to know about the TT one thanks girls:thumbup:
Might just pick up an Angelcare one so.
