I have my 28 week appointment with my midwife and as I've been told by her this is my last blood test. However, the real problem arises with trying to get the blood out. They can never find a vein and it takes them umpteen attempts. Then if they can't find it, they get other people to try!!
This bloody hurts! I end up leaving the surgery with what look like track marks! I would just love it if this once I could go in there and be done in minutes! Pray for me!

Drink a lot of water before you give blood, it makes the veins fuller which makes it easier for them to find it!

I hope it goes ok! My midwife always says to me she wont do anything she wont have done to herself and that if anything like that takes more than 2 attempts she will stop. Good luck

Shame I don't have your midwife. Mine tries both arms, wrists and back of hands...It's too much to think about lol

:/ Good luck hun. I hate the bloods They've always had difficulty getting my veins to give any too, they always end up collapsing half way through. Fortunately the most they've had to try is twice, even if they only get the tiniest amount.. I don't know whether I could do any more than two attempts in one go.

Wow that really is excessive! Ive refused the booking bloods at the 12 week appointment. I know my blood type and anything else i figured if i dont feel well in myself i can let her know. All she was worried about with me was being anaemic but i dont think thats likely as my iron was very high last time it was checked in march. So hopefully wont have to have any taken at all. Hope she finds it first time for you
