MRSA swabbing

Hi girls,

Random one, but I have my pre op appt tomorrow. Bloods, swabs etc. silly question really but do you do yr own swabs? Where are they taken from? The reason I ask is my appt is late afternoon and im out and about all day.....mummmm getting sweaty down there!! I won't get to get a quick shower shortly before the appt and I'd be really embarrassed if I have to drop my pants to reveal a seriously out of control, not to mention sweaty lady garden!! I the nurse has to do It I need to re arrange my day!!!

So, do you do your own as I'm assuming they do a groin one!!

When I had my pre op swabs they took one from the inside of my nose, mouth and in the groin. I did mine myself, but it was all rushed as they had a last min slot for the next morning and It was already 3 in the afternoon. It took all of about 2mins to do and wasn't as embarrassing as I thought it'd be! Hope this helps!!

Yes I did my own last month as Sammy said above it's your nose and groin that you swab. They left me alone in the room to do it so it wasn't embarrassing

I really wouldn't worry about it - think about it, these are midwives - they've seen lady gardens in much worse conditions that just being a bit sweaty. They're used to seeing women poo and all sorts. Plus, even if they do the swab, it's not as if they have a good look at your bits. IIRC I didn't even have to take my pants off - they just swabbed in my groin, right at the top of my leg.
